Wonderful hotel for families (baby room and game room as well as swimming pool for families). As an older couple, we loved it too, although those with any limited climbing ability will be challenged. Walk up hill from cable car (tho the hotel will pick up from train station with enough notice). Swimming pool access up and down two staircases. Also be forewarned, dinner at hotel expensive but bar food good and not so pricey. Unable to find open restaurants in Gora so ate at hotel which is isolated -- and relaxing!
Nice onsen facilities, including spacious dressing area and massage services.
Bus stop (Kowakien-en) is outside hotel, accessible despite being in the mountainous area.
Change bus at Gora train station (5min away by bus) to Gotemba Outlets. Enroute catch manificent Mt Fuji view (photo)
Nice place to stay to go see mount Fuji. Hotter is not close to the lake. Public transportation is accessible and the area is very quiet. It said that it includes hot springs, but it does not. It has 2 nice Japanese bath facilities.
Great location - right by the bottom of the funicular for the loop around Hakone. Amazing night of Japanese cuisine. The nicest Ryokan we stayed in for quality. The evening meal was sensational and each dish wonderfully explained to us by our host.
