Elegant hotel conveniently situatedPosted Nov 3, 2013
Pros: The grounds, the space and the food and drink.
Cons: Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be good. Poor service in La Vasco restaurant, but the service in La Distillerie was excellent.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at La Chartreuse. we found the hotel staff friendly and helpful and enjoyed the style of the hotel.

Great Hotel for start of long journeyPosted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: Very near Motorway exit. Peaceful and quite. Lovely food. Nice staff.
Location: Location ideal for us as it is only 45 minutes from Calais and makes for a good early morning start for alobg journey.
We had stayed at this hotel many years ago and were very satisfied with it then. It did not disappoint this time. Reception very helpful, room comfortable and clean. Dining in La Distillerie (their Bistro) was superb. Will definately stay their again on our next journey to Italy.

A let downPosted Jun 29, 2013
Cons: The bad smells and the hotel's poor restaurant
Having stayed at many chateaux that allow dogs we have never before come across a hotel such as this which I'm afraid smelt VERY DOGGY! We love animals and the fact that they are welcome in many hotels in France but this hotel failed to keep on top of cleanliness. Our room and the hotel's corridors smelled awful. The food was not good in the gastronomic restaurant although I have to say we had a very good lunch at the Distillery Restaurant on site. We wished we had returned there for dinner that evening but we thought the hotel restaurant would be better. It certainly was not and when we complained to the restaurant manager he was very rude and arrogant. We also complained about the lack of cleanliness and the bad smells.

Gorgeous hotelPosted May 25, 2013
Pros: Lovely Rooms
Location: Just off the Motorway. Quiet location away from town
Lovely building with lovely gardens to walk in with tables outside for drinks when it's warm enough. Choice of 3 restaurants ranging from gastronomic to more casual dining. Couldn't fault it.

A little piece of luxury for the weekendPosted Sep 25, 2012
Pros: Hotel staff
Cons: Over-priced breakfast
Location: Quiet village location, with a nice former railway line to run/walk/cycle along.
The hotel staff really made the weekend break. They were courteous, helpful and friendly. Ate at La Distillerie and Le Vasco, much preferred the latter, which had more atmosphere and a better menu. Breakfast at Euro 18,50 is over-priced and not value for money. Otherwise, a lovely location and beautifully appointed rooms.
Perfect retreat for 1st wedding anniversaryPosted Sep 19, 2012 on Hotels.com
What a wonderful hotel/chateau! The staff were very friendly and always there to help. The restaurant was superb and was very flexible on their fixed menu to accomodate allergies. The room was decent size although the bathroom was a bit cozy, but then again that didnt make any difference as the place is so beautiful and so relaxing to stay in. We will most definitely be returning there again! ps. they are also dog friendly which was a big bonus for us to take our little dog along.
