“Great place to stay”
Hotel was really clean and room appeared to be recently renovated, since all of the funature and room ammenities looked new. Tasty European breakfast and free WiFi in room.
“GRAND HOTEL OPERA AND EXPEDIA NUMBER 1”
AWESOME
“Very convenient”
Stayed in a single here, for 1 night prior to boarding the M/S Juno for the Gota Canal Cruise. Hotel was right across from the train station - very convenient. We walked easily to the City Museum and the GO! Ferris Wheel. If it weren't for our luggage, we could have walked to the peer where the boat left the next morning as well! The hotel was also clean, staff was informative, and they served a good breakfast.
“one of the best hotels i have stayed in”
The hotel is across the road from central station. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure that my stay was comfortable. The breakfast was good. it is also next to one of the big shopping centers in goteborg.
“Great hotel in Gothenburg”
The breakfast was exceptional, fresh food. Room was clean, staff was friendly and very helpful. Luggage storage for my later flight after check out. Showers were hot and bathroom was clean. Will only stay here when in Gothenburg. Location was perfect! close to everything. Very enjoyable experience during my stay.
“Great location, good quality and value”
Lovely hotel with a great location a few meters from the Central Rail Station and easy walking distance to all this beautiful city's sights.
“Good hotel for a short stay”
The Grand Hotel Opera is a nice hotel at a super central location. The hotel staff is friendly at the reception. Had less good experiences with the staff in the breakfast room, but it was still okay. My room was tiny, but functional and clean. Well furnished, but simple. Big flat screen tv. The shower was not so great (no decent water volume), but also the bathroom was clean and tidy. I would really recommend this hotel when you visit Gothenburg for a 1 or 2-night stay, not longer.
“hotel opera”
Very central location to many of the cities best activities. The room was very quiet, though a little less decor than most. I understand they are remodeling the hotel. The buffett breakfast was wonderful with a good variety. I think that I would stay here again...especially since major renovations are underway.
“It was OK”
For the money, this hotel was a good deal. It was centrally located and very near the train station. The downside of the hotel was that the room was fairly small. My window overlooked a busy street which didn't bother me but might bother others. The breakfast buffet was average. My major complaint was that I was traveling with a bicycle and when I asked the staff if there was a safe place where I could put it off of the street, they didn't have a clue. It's a good thing that bikes don't get stolen in Sweden like they do in other countries or mine probably would have disappeared that night.
“overpriced”
This hotel is centrally located and well appointed;the breakfast is fine. However, the rooms are small and do not justify the high price (we stayed in an equivalent hotel in Stockholm for 20% less). Travellers should check carefully on the kind of room they are booked into. The double we were first in was fine for two small children but not for two average-sized adults. We were able to change rooms but had to pay an upgrade.
