Tygart Lake State Park is a cozy, quiet getaway for couples and families. It rests among West Virginias rolling hills alongside 10-mile long Tygart Lake. It is also perfect for small group conferences, retreats and family reunions. Tygart Lodge overlooks the lake and offers 20 of the most spacious, comfortable and appealing guest rooms in West Virginia’s renowned state park system. In addition to the lodge rooms, Tygart has 11 modern vacation cabins with fireplaces, modern kitchens and baths, and are completely furnished for housekeeping with cooking utensils, dishes, linens, towels and blankets. Tygart Lake visitors enjoy fishing and boating on the mountain-stream fed waters of the lake. In addition to the lake, Tygart features the Boston Beanery. This spacious lodge restaurant offers panoramic views of the lake, a variety of mouth-watering entrees, and comfortably seats up to 100 guests. The restaurant caters banquets and receptions for groups such as business meetings, family reunions and weddings. We also offer hiking trails, camping, picnicking, playgrounds and gift shops. During the summer, a park Naturalist provides free guided nature programs and recreation activities for all guests. A golf course and a number of historical and popular attractions, including Valley Falls, Philippi covered bridge, Int’l Mother's Day Shrine and West Virginia University are nearby. The park is just minutes from the historic town of Grafton, WV, and a short drive from Interstate 79 in north central West Virginia. Tygart Lake is a US Army Corps of Engineers flood control lake protecting areas from West Virginia to Pennsylvania. During the summer months, the lake is held at a relatively normal water level. Between mid-September and April, the lake is drawn down in anticipation of heavier precipitation. Tygart Lake Lodge overnight facilities are open year round. Our ADA accessible cottage is available all year. The remaining cottages are available from mid-April through December.
