Great but long walk to room!Posted Jul 5, 2012
Location: Good for bars and restuarants-within walking distance.Taxi ride to sea front and the shops and bars there.
Good hotel, good location and pleasant surroundings. Air conditioning in rooms not brilliant needs to be more powerful.Vending machines out of order so no where to buy water at night so there needs to be a facility to buy water from reception. If you can´t walk far or have a young family the walk to far corridors involves going up and then back down a flight of stairs-no elevator available to this level! It took us over 5 mins to get to our room! Lunchtime menu at poolbar not brilliant for kids could do with kids choices.

A very nice experience.Posted Jan 5, 2012
Pros: Pool area and the sun deck
Cons: Not having coffee available at all meals.
Location: Great location with little traffic noise.
Front desk staff excellent at handling all inquires. Dining staff excellent, courteous , and prompt. The hotel is ideally located in walking distance from the Dunes and the Beach. All the amenities were in good shape, and the rooms were spotless. Very enjoyable stay!

Great HotelPosted Jan 5, 2012
Pros: Cleanliness and the language skills of the staff, easily switching betweeen any number of languages.
Cons: Location! The walk to the beach it is across some sand dunes. the 1st day these are interesting after that it becomes a drag. the hotel provides a Bus
Location: If you are Ok! with a bus to the beach then the location is fine.

Decent location & facilitiesPosted Jan 4, 2012
Pros: Location between the dunes & Yumbo
Cons: It's a long hotel, so if your friends are down the other end, it's a long walk!
Location: 2nd closest hotel to the dunes
Good location, everything is basic, but perfectly functional. Clean, tidy, modest. We were always out, so it was just a place to sleep and suited us fine. No kitchen or kitchenette. Waffles by the pool between 3-4:30 :)

3-star hotelPosted Oct 12, 2011
Pros: Good location, nice and large garden area. Cons: Inconvenient beds, maids create a lot of noise early in the morning. Breakfast variety and quality is average. Should be rated 3 stars, not 4.

Not for couplesPosted Sep 7, 2010
Overall the hotel was ok, however am not satisfied by the beds provided. Noticed that there were a lot of couples at the hotel, so had asked reception for a room with a double bed, they said they did not have any. We had to work around the 2 single beds provided. Breakfast was big, easy to get tables and no fighting around. Rooms were made bare, simple, but on the cheap side. To get to the beach you had to walk 20 minutes across the sand dunes. Was unique at first, then it got tiring. Swimming pool was small, and they had put the sun loungers too close to each other providing no privacy.

I had an amazing holiday in gran canaria, everything from the start to the ending, i would deffinetly back in there. The only problem is that the people doesnt speak very well english and prefer to communicate spanish or german and dislake people who speak english, well it's my personal opinion. I have stayed in IFA catarina hotel as 4 star it was good, the room was perfectly cleaned every day, the only propblem was too many families with childrens and the pool was always full of childrens, that was annoying a little bit.. but the overall it was an amzing 12 days holiday

Short break for Young No Kids couplePosted Aug 17, 2010 on Hotels.com
Everything as expected-easy check-in, clean rooms-although basic. There was no problem getting sun loungers as we read in other reviews. The food was very good-quite a selection to choose from and different main courses each night. The drink selection was really reasonable in price 7Euros for a half pitcher of Sangria. The beach was 20 minute walk across the dunes but with the shuttle bus, it was about ten minutes away. The nightlife didn't seem to be too close by-it seemed to be a taxi ride away. The entertainment seemed good for kids but it was not applicable to us (although it was quite amusing after a few drinks-especially punchy and 'one of the island's best Elvis impersonators!) ;-) All in all, it was a relaxing, comfortable stay at a reasonable price. It met our expectations.
