Great pool and views, friendly staff!

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Just returned from a great week here. Lovely balcony looking over the marina, with the afternoon & evening sunshine (room 618) and gorgeous sunset views. This is the best side in my view;the pool view rooms are rather overlooked. Nice to have a separate living area, kitchenette and dining table, although we were on half board basis. Breakfast was great, good choice and plenty there for everyone even the latecomers (it ends at 11am). Food in the evening was variable and the entertainment was rather excruciating at times (think performing parrot, karaoke, bar quiz and Sarah Brightman tribute act). Not impressed with the surcharge of 4 euros per day to use the in- room safe. Shower/bath gels and shampoo are not replaced when you use them up. Really nice staff who make the effort to personalise your stay. They are a tribute to the hotel.

Excellent accommodation

We had an excellent stay at Marina Suites. I don't think we could have picked a better place in Puerto Rico. The suite is like a little flat with excellent views, even from the second floor. Otherwise, it feels like a hotel, with a fantastic swimming pool area. The staff were helpful, friendly, and occasionally hilarious, in the right way. It's close to everything in the town and you don't have to deal with the hills either.

A relaxing touch of luxury...

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: Location, friendly staff, facilities, food.... everything really.
Cons: The shower has a nasty habit of switching between hot and cold mid shower. Thermostatic taps would be a help.
Location: Went to the old village of Teror - very pretty, and Palmitos Park - a fantastic animal park in stunning scenery - highly recommended!
Just over half an hour from the airport, the hotel is situated next to the harbour, with views either over the harbour or out to sea. We had a sea view room with balcony on the 7th floor as we knew we would be spending evenings in with our 18 month old in bed, and like to spend time on the balcony with a nice view. This also looks over the infinity pool - heated with a separate kids pool - a bit crowded with sun loungers, but fantastic views and a lovely place to spend the day. There is a cliff next to the hotel, so the sun hits the balcony from late morning. The apartment was very spacious with marble everywhere. We stayed half board and the food was excellent with a different choice each night. The local area is clean and well kept - modern so lacking the character of a Greek island, but everything you need. Felt the choice of restaurants was maybe a bit limited, so glad we had half board. Very much a family orientated resort. The beach is clean with plenty of sun beds. There is another beach just around the corner which is supposed to be nicer and not shared with a port, but we never made it that far.

Highly recommended hotel with beautiful ocean view

Posted Mar 15, 2015
Pros: The friendly staff, beautiful view and good location
Cons: Some of the dishes for dinner
Location: harbour next to hotel where you can do different boat trips, beach, restaurants and shops just a 5 min. walk away, bus station 10 min. walk away
My wife and me spent a fantastic week at the Marina Suites. The hotel is right next to the small harbour of Puerto Rico and very close to the beach. Our standard suite was very spacious and had everything you need to prepare your own meals if you like. The TV has many channels. The breakfast buffet is served at the pool bar where you can enjoy the beautiful ocean view, sitting inside the pavilion or outside. There is a big variety of different food, something delicious for everyone to be found and my favourite: freshly squeezed orange juice. The pool bar is open all day and offers many different drinks to refresh when relaxing at the beautiful infinity pool. At a certain period of time each day you can have lunch there as well. Dinner is served inside at the restaurant in a very nice ambience. The theme of the menu or buffet changes every weekday and there is a variety to choose from. The only little criticism we have, is that the food was not always perfect in terms of flavour, the ingredients were of good quality though. However I might be more fussy than others, because I am a chef and restaurant owner myself. For us the biggest plus of this hotel is the very helpful and friendly staff. Wether at the reception, at the bar or in the restaurant, everyone was polite and obliging. We would be happy to come back and highly recommend this hotel to others. Also we met other guests who keep coming back to the Marina Suites regularly.

Fantastic Hotel

Very impressed with Marina Suites. Perfect location, close to beach, the Harbour and all facilities. On arrival the staff upgraded our room to a luxury suite which was an additional bonus. The pool is a spectacular sight over looking the sea. The hot tubs make an excellent addition. Staff very friendly and accommodating. If visiting Peurto Rico Marina Suites comes highly recommended.

Light,spacious accommodation.

Pros: Space standards, great views, friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Had lunch one day in the hotel - good serving staff but food pretty mediocre, particularly compared to some great food offers in the locality.
Location: Use the ferries to get around - fun and cheap.Try the local restaurants - Trip Advisor gaves us 6 very good ones - good spanish and Italien food.
Great location - perfect for guests who want to go out and try the many and varied restaurants in the vicinity. The marina is one of the prettier bits of the island and a source of interest from the lovely terrace. Very pleasant and effective staff on call at the hotel. Would strongly recommend hiring a car to explore this island of diverse landscapes. The tourist resorts tend to sit amongst a very arid landscape but there is jaw dropping beauty to be found elswhere on the island in the mountains in particular.

Fantastic location and handy for all amenities !

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: Location and parking were great. The cleanliness and helpful staff were also great. Spacious room with fabulous view. Free high speed internet.
Cons: You can add on breakfast, dinner, fresh bread and large supplies of water from Reception - a clear list of extras available and prices would be good.
Location: Excellent location, better than up the hillside. You can get a boat to other coastal villages, and bus to major towns. Bars and restaurants very close
We'd not been to Gran Canaria before after recommendation booked Marina Suites an excellent choice. We hired a car to could get into the hills to do the wonderful Rambling Roger walks (google separately) and found the Gran Canaria Tour & Trail map invaluable. Easy parking in the harbour area for just 35 euros for the week - but you can get around easily without a car. Everything very handy, great eating places and bars. We self catered but you can add breakfast or dinner as required. Supermarket and Spar well stocked. We used the bus a couple of days, and went up to Las Palmas one day we were glad we did but nothing spectacular there, also took the bus to Maspalomas and walked along the sands to Playa Ingles (or vice versa) and bused back which was a great day out. Other days we spent walking in the hills with so many walks to choose from. The buses and cheap and very regular, the only problem we had was that is was not always clear where you were, as they stop just outside the towns and do not announce where you are, but everyone was most helpful and we never got lost ! We went on a catamaran boat trip to look for dolphins and were not disappointed, we chose the one that went on a Friday taking in Puerto Mogon market and visit to that town which would highly recommend, even if you just take the ferry boat, Mogon is worth a visit. Puerto Rico has a lovely beach, great facilities, and a lively shopping centre up the hill with more bars and eating places. We will return !

Heerlijk genieten

Posted Feb 15, 2015
