Charming hotel close to the sea

Posted Jan 29, 2014
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Cons: In the room; Fix some of the old furnitures and lamps that soon will break apart...and install a desk that makes it possible to work if needed..
Location: The hotel is situated close to a small and charming placa with trees and benches .just some minutes walk to old town and the fortress.

Handily placed near to beach and restaurants

Posted Jan 3, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: The hotel was a bit noisy at night, especially on one windy night when the wind could be heard whistling past poorly sealing outside doors.
A basic hotel which offered good value for money

Great Value Hotel

Posted Nov 29, 2013
Pros: Location and value for money
Cons: If the hotel and the local authorities dealt with the drunks this would be a fantastic hotel
Hotel is ideally situated at the foot of Almunecar castle. We stayed in a large, clean and spacious room overlooking the square and the sea. This lovely view and sounds of the sea were however frequently tempered by the sight and sounds of the 3 or 4 town drunks who appeared to have made it their afternoon, evening and nighttime place of choice. Had this not been the case we would definitely have used the restaurant for lunch or dinner as it came highly recommended by a number of locals that we spoke to. Limited choice but good value breakfast. Nevertheless we had a very pleasant 6 night stay at the beginning of November.

Lovely location

This was the second time we have stayed here and it won;t be the last. We asked for a room at the front with a balcony and paid the extra but it is worth it for the sea views. The hotel is very central and across the road from the beach. We only eat here once but next time we will eat here more often as the food was great. What really made it for us was the helpfulness of the staff, they couldn't do enough for us, especially when my wife was not feeling too well. Overall I can't fault it for the price.

Good value hotel

Hotel location was good, albeit our room was quite small. However the hotel/ room were clean, the staff were pleasant and it was good value for a cheapish weekend break.

Small, calm hotel with charcter

Posted Jun 25, 2012 on Hotels.com
A well postioned 35ish bedroom hotel at the end of Playa San Cristobal. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the rooms serviced every day. We had one breakfast which was good - bread roll, fresh orange juice and coffee. In fairness you can buy the same at lots of bars nearby, and a little cheaper. You have to go out, of course, We had one evening meal which was excellent - gazpacho, pork and lamb chops, salad, coffee, and a bottle of the house Ribera del Duero. You can eat indoors in the cool, neat restaurant or out on the terrace (Downside there - smokers!) We had a front room with a balcony giving a view over the square, out to the headland and either side of that the sea. There's always some activity in the square from schoolchildren eating lunch to market stalls in the evening. The room was small with twin beds shower, WC, bidet and some storage space. A huge impressive wardrobe gave character but not much storage. There was no shelf in the bathroom, and there was no plug near the mirror for a hairdryer. The aircon was poor, but as it was early for aircon at that hotel it could be that it was wasn't yet functioning correctly. I mentioned it twice to the manager, but nothing changed. Both my wife and I felt it was an excellent hotel for a short stay - say up to five days, but not as good value for longer. We also met another couple who were back for their sixth year. At the price we paid it represented very good value for money
