Nice hotel. Not worth the price

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Front desk very helpfull
Cons: Hotel could provide shuttle to Alhambra
The inside of this hotel has few original features and the rooms modern and functional but little more. Transport to the town is not easy and it's a 500 mtr part uphill walk to the Alhambra. An expensive room without the convenience anticipated

Excellent location for visiting Alhambra

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Hotel is within the Alhambra compound and thus excellent for visiting the Alhambra. But it is relatively inconvenient to go into the town area as the hotel is on a hill. Good idea to have signboards which relate the history of the hotel and the area. Hotel staff are not really of the 5-star category - granted they get things done but they don't exactly make you feel welcomed, especially the restaurant staff. I suppose guests pay the high room rates for the history and location of the hotel.

Parador in the Alhambra

Wonderful location but room most uncomfortable. No value for money. Poor sense of hospitality . Hotel staff had to be asked to help with luggage on departure. Better to stay in one of the less pricey hotels in the Old Town.

Parador great for your visit to Alhambra

Beautiful grounds and wonderful & helpful staff with great restaurant. Rooms are small, cramped, without adequate luggage or clothing space. The price is really for the convenience of being next to Alhambra and Generalife for your tours of the beautiful sites and grounds for walking. Would never plan an extended stay at this site, so if you are spending more than 2 nights and don't mind the taxi or walk stay at one of the nicer/larger hotels in the Reyes Catolicos area of Granada.

Lovely hotel, in Alhambra city

Posted Apr 27, 2014
perfect location and very quiet. After visiting the Alhambra or Granada, which is packed with tourists, it's an absolute treat to return to this hotel and sit on the terrace with gorgeous view of the Generalife. Or find some tranquility in the garden. Great restaurant, real food, we had enough of tapas after 2 weeks, so this was very nice. Breakfast a bit pricy 20 euros. Highly recommend staying here, we spend here 2 nights, was perfect! If you visit Granada, and can afford it, stay here, an absolute must!

Perfect location

You can't ask for a better location if you want to have a good time visiting the Alhambra (which is large!) The hotel is an old monastery, amazingly picturesque, and sits on the grounds of the Alhambra, 5 minutes walk from everything. The wait staff at the restaurant was impeccapble, but the front desk staff, who also act as bellboys, know the value of the hotel, and act accordingly... A bit too nonchalant about their function. One of our suitcases was left behind when we asked them to collect our luggage and bags and we had to waste half a day driving back there from Malaga to collect it.

Tranquility and grandeur

Posted Aug 24, 2013
Location: The tours of the old town, either on foot, Segway, bicycle or bus are excellent.
The parador of San Francisco in Granada combines the best of modern comfort with the ordinal beauty of the monastery. Based within the Alhambra, ther is a view from every angle, and nowhere to look that is not beautiful. The food is excellent, and the proximity to the Alhambra attractions is excellent. You can walk to the town and keep fit, or catch the frequent local buses. Highly recommended.

not worth the price

Pros: location
Cons: All Paradors need improvement and modernisation
Location: Except for the Alhambra and the Generalife, nothing else nearby...you can walk to the city but need a cab to come back because of the steep hill
Highly overrated hotel. Rooms are tiny, The Parador is very close to the entrance of the Alhambra but does not give you any facilities...you stilto l have to walk to the entrance gate and pay the entrance fee. OK its romantic to stay at the Parador if you are lucky to end up with a room with a view...don't accept any room because some are are really depressing . The front desk is just OK because besides Spanish they only speak limited English or French...the Tourism office down the street is much more helpful and better documented. Breakfast in the romantic garden is great.for its quality, view and atmosphere and...friendly service There are other more modern hotels in the vicinity with better value. AC worked well...this is important because Granada is torrid in the summer ... bathrooms are very small but the amenities were good . WIFI worked well
