"Wonderful hotel close to the square and restaurant"
Hotel La Bocana was a great hotel. The building itself is magnificent with a lovely courtyard and a separate area with an outdoor pool, lounging chairs and hammocks. The bedrooms are huge. Even though the large private bathrooms are across the courtyard, this was not an inconvenience, but part of the charm. Each room has a private three piece bathroom. The staff were very helpful, polite, and showed great pride in the hotel, their city, and themselves. The complimentary breakfast was good home cooked quality with individual service with a smile.

"Staff succeeded in making our visit fun, comfortable - and safe"
The new owners have made this an excellent hotel, particularly for English-speaking guests. They have a small hotel which gives excellent customer service. They didn't just want us to enjoy the hotel; they wanted us to have a great experience in Granada - which we did. They advised us on restaurants and other needs. The rooms surround a courtyard with a fountain, ferns, and other plants - and 2 doves that built their own room in one of the bushes. The breakfast options ranged from local cuisine, traditional North American food options (e.g., scrambled eggs, pancakes), fruit, cereal, coffee, and juice - among the best breakfasts included with a room that we've had. Our room was large, with 2 queen size beds, making it quite comfortable for 4 people. The air conditioning was great - making a good sleep much easier to get. Beds were very comfortable. TV had ample options for English-speakers. Internet access was easy. The hotel is located away from the more touristy plaza area, so you feel much more connected with the community. Ice cream and pastries are close by. An historical church is across the street with an excellent view of Granada from the bell tower. While you are there, do visit the local museum, get a guided tour of Granada from a carriage (make arrangements with Casa La Merced), take a canopy tour with zip lines, tour the Mumbacho, tour the reserve. It's about 45 minutes to the Managua airport and the hotel will arrange transportation for you.

"Center of town - amazing place!"
Wonderful, beautiful hotel! Very competent and friendly staff. Exotic feel to the hotel, big rooms on the main floor with big wooden doors. The front of the hotel is a good place to drink your coffee and people watch as it sits right on a busy street and is across from a center park/food meeting place. The pictures we looked at on the internet did not do this hotel any justice. There are actually two middle courtyards. One has grass and chairs, the other has a pool and also serves the breakfast crowd. Great buffet with several selections of tropical fruit. If you go with a 5 star NYC American mindset, you may find something wrong with this hotel, however, if you go with a 5 star tropical country mindset, you will thoroughly enjoy your stay I'm sure!

"Lovely hotel with wonderful pool area"
We spent 3 terrific days at the hotel, with lots of time relaxing in the beautiful pool area. The staff are very kind and helpful. There are plenty of restaurants and other attractions nearby (the lake, museum, shops, etc.). I wasn't surprised to overhear other very satisfied guests changing their plans to be able to spend extra days at the hotel before moving on to other cities.

"Quiet with a great swimming pool."
My mom and I very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. The rooms were nice, the swimming pool was large, the outside area was nicely maintained and we felt like we were in our own tropical oasis.

"Home away from home--I'd go back!"
Despite uncooperative weather, Carl and Karolina were wonderful hosts. Since the downpours didn't encourage going out, they ordered reasonably priced and excellent dinners in for me from a variety of local restaurants. Every time they went into town to run errands, they'd offer me a ride, and I was free to either tag along, or do my own thing and meet at a prearranged time for the return trip (about 6 or 7 minutes). The house dog, Cha Cha (Chachita) tried to keep me from missing my own mutt! The staff couldn't have been nicer, whether preparing a nice breakfast if I wanted to eat there, or nuking my leftovers in the microwave if I didn't feel like going into town. When there was sun, I enjoyed the lovely garden pool. Internet was available, also. Most of all, I loved hanging out and chatting with the hosts and enjoying some of their favorite haunts in town. It was a great time, and I highly recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a homey environment. Trisha

"Comfortable hotel in the heart of Granada"
My husband and I stayed for a week in March 2014. The hotel is located 3 blocks from the Cathedral, close to restaurants, bars, and shopping, so we didn't need a car. The hotel staff arranged for hotel transfers, a taxi to Masaya's Artisan Market, and other locations so we were able to see some of the attractions near Granada. The staff is young and friendly, and they all speak English. Breakfast, Nicaragua style, was included. The hotel itself is Colonial style, and the interior gardens were lovely and a great place to relax.

"Best hotel in Central America"
We stayed at La Colonia for two night in May 2014, and would have loved to have stayed two weeks, everything was outstanding, but in particular the staff, from Raymond the Swiss manager down to the bell boy. They were particularly helpfull when someone hit my car parked out side, the receptionist came to the police station with me to help fill out forms and make what could have been a nightmare, all quite managable. I could not reccomend this hotel enough.
