Close to NAU

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: n/a
Cons: See above
Location: Grand Canyon is 85 miles away.
Issues: 1. At check-in found that I was double-booked. 2. Toilet issues - had to call twice to get repairman. 3. Found towels damp when went to take shower. 4. Came back to our room the second day at 5:45 p.m. And room had not been cleaned. 5. Dog across hall barked and barked. 6. Eggs were cold at breakfast.

Supposed to be nonsmoking but it reeked. Breakfast was limited. Facility and service were fine.

Dirty Room, Poor Breakfast

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Yes, this is a pet friendly hotel, its got that going for it. However, that may also be its negative. Bed sheets were stained and the room felt dirty. Don't bother with the free breakfast unless you set your expectations really low to begin with. On the positive side, the location is great and the staff is super friendly.

Breakfast staff seemed short staffed. Always had to notify coffee was out as well as fruit, cereal and waffle batter. Tables were NEVER wiped off. The guy would fill whatever then take off. Management needs to do a better job managing. Placed the "cards" on the beds for fresh sheets, never got them. I know because there was a little mud mark on the side of the sheet and it was still there after the beds were made.

Good for people traveling with pets.

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Pros: The hotel was close to NAU and the freeway.
Cons: They need to put refrigerators in the rooms.
We didn't realize this was a total "pet friendly" hotel. Since we have allergies, we almost had to go stay at another hotel. The staff was very nice about it and offered to help us find another hotel, but last minute prices were not realistic. We took lots of allergy med's and tried to stay out of the room as much as possible. The room was clean enough, but pet dander sticks around. They don't allow pets in the pool area, which was a plus. If you are in need of a hotel that takes pets, this one is OK.

Front desk refused to give us a receipt.

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Pros: Location and appearance.
Cons: Train your front desk personnel. Make it clear to dog owners that barking will not be tolerate.
Location: Good location but too far to walk to old town. Lots of things to do in Flagstaff.
This was a business trip and the front desk refused to give me a receipt with my name, amount paid and showing a zero due. They claimed that since the reservation was made by a third party they could not print the receipt because they were not allowed to see what we paid. I have now stayed at two other La Quintas and each time received the correct receipt with my name - John Nellis, the amount charged, the amount paid on my credit card and showing a zero balance. Don't know what is wrong with the front desk staff in Flagstaff but I must have this proper receipt. The Hotel was also extremely noisy with dogs barking at 5am. My own two yellow labs never made a sound the entire time we were there but I was always with them. At all the other La Quintas I have stayed at have a full hot breakfast and the overall cost is less.
