Location says it all

The reason I stayed here was to be at the park the first thing the next day. I stayed at another chain hotel across the street two years ago and tried to get a room for this trip but they were full this time. The Grand was the only place that was available so I booked it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and dark. Why dark? I don't know. They were using CFLs to save energy I imagine, but even with all the lights on I felt I was in a cave. Free wifi was a nice perk. The part I didn't like about the stay here was there was no free breakfast. I got a free breakfast at the place across the street but not here. At the price they charged me for the room it's the least they could have done. I know they run a restaurant and want to make all the money they can but I've stayed at places that also have restaurants and they've provided something for their guests. I guess beggars can't be choosers.

nice hotel close to grand canyon national park

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: large fireplace in lobby and grand piano in room just off lobby for anyone to play. Nice gift shop. entertainment in restaurant enjoyed.
Cons: Restaurant short staffed, waiter overworked and quite abrupt. Being pleasant even when busy, could be done.
One nite stay to see grand canyon for first time. Room average, 2 queen beds - comfortable. Bathroom set at an angle with door akwardly angled and larger than normal. Coffee - single cup machine gives you only 2 cups. Not enough for 2 people.

Nice hotel, pleasant staff

Pros: Relatively affordable option close to the Grand Canyon
Cons: Breakfast service was rather slow, a buffet option would have helped for those of us in a hurry to get up to the Canyon
Location: Obviously, the Grand Canyon!
We were in this hotel one night while seeing the Grand Canyon.

Not worth the extra money.

Cons: Re-do and spruce up the rooms.
Location: Nice restaurants and shops. Close to the Canyon.
It's ok. The hotel facilities are nice but rooms are so-so at best and not as clean as I would like. The "hot" tub was luke warm. The staff was very friendly though and the location is good.

Lovely hotel

Pros: Wood and western themed in time with the area. Forest location.
Cons: There were far to few staff to run a large and busy restaurant and busy bar, The bar was often unattended because staff were required to serve meals.
Helpfull and friendly staff. Hotel is only 9 miles from the Grand Canyon south rim and less than 1 mile fron the airport for helicopter canyon trip, highly recommended.

Terrible, terrible, terrible

I will never stay here again. Staff as rude and it is a rip off for the price. No breakfast, no microwave in room, and the WiFi is terrible. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Holiday Inn Express across the street. I really was hoping this would be special but it certainly was not.

Limited options so probably one of the better hotels near the Grand Canyon.

Lovely makeover in the works

Very friendly and accommodating staff. We got in late and were hungry and though the restaurant was closed the bar staff brought us some snacks to hold us over till morning. Nice woodsy arts and crafts style makeover for the whole hotel. Very pleased.

Popular hotel getting complacent

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: Open well laid out foyer
Cons: Need more staff - although restaurant only a quarter full had to wait 30 mins in bar before being seated. Single bar man rushed off his feet
Location: Grand Canyon
Good infrastructure needing a refresh - door knob came off in hands as did shower fitting
