Great hotel close to the Grand Canyon

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Location (only minutes from the main gate). Staff
Cons: not sure
Location: Grand Canyon, airport, restaurants all a few minutes drive.
This was truly a well-run establishment. Courteous staff. Decent rates. Stylish lobby and rooms and tons of amenities for personal comfort. I'd go back again in a heartbeat.

Basic hotel close to park

Posted Oct 25, 2014
Hotel was basic but clean and check in & check out prices was fast. Hotel is close to grand canyon park entrance. It appears to be the best choice in the town of Tusayna. Biggest dissappoinment was the food in this hotel. It took the waiter 20 minutes to bring us water and 30 minutes to bring the check. And the food was mediocre at best. Consider McDonald's instead when eating in this town.

Location ok

Posted Oct 25, 2014
Pros: close to hole
Cons: Cost compare!!!!!!
Location: Hole
Refurbish starts next week. Meanwhile expect to pay very high rates for mediocre facilities. No frig! Carpet is old and dirty. One sink. Smells from air conditioning -very noisy. Go across street to Best Western -better value. Do not eat at the Grand unless you want a second mortgage to pay for it.

Just okay, clean

Posted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: The out side was quite impressive, but who stands out and admires a hotel? The woman in the gift shop was sweet and helpful.
Cons: Staff attitudes,
Location: Grand Canyon was great!
For the price compared to many we've stayed in the Past three weeks, this had no stellar attributes. The lobby was nice but who spends much time there. Staff acted as if they were less than happy to see us. When one key didn't work I waited in line and they asked if I needed two? They did redo and give me two keys! Everything was okay, but again for what we paid compared to others that were 1/2 to 1/4 less $ with breakfast, this had nothing to make me recommend it to friends.

OK hotel close to Grand Canyon

Posted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Cleanliness of rooms. Restaurant needs better management
Location: Grand Canyon is nearby --WOW!!
Great location but dingy towels and sheets. Room was not very clean or appealing. Staff was helpful, but not sure why the room was not clean. Common areas are very nice. Food service lacking due to insufficient staffing.

Stay across the street Best Western/Holliday Inn

Posted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: The decoration in the lobby and the outside. It's a nice-lloking hotel, but the furniture in the rooms doesn't match and it's a bit old and scratched.
Cons: Remodel the rooms. Add spa tubs. Put fridges and microwaves in all rooms since the dining options in the city are not so good.
Location: Not a lot of good dinning options around, but if you have a car you are very close to the South rim of the Grand Canyon. Not much to do there.
My husband and I were not pleased with our stay for several reasons: no fridge in the room, but after we requested it, they brought us one, which was dirty. In the drawer there was dirty yellow water and fruit seeds. When I called the front desk to complain, they said they would send someone right away, which I declined since it was 10pm and we were tired. The next day they didn't clean it either. Every time we went back to the room, the keys would no longer work. Apparently they demagnetize easily, then we would have to go down to the front desk to re-magnetize the room key- quite a hassle! The people check us in are not rude or anything, but they are not very efficient. When we checked in, they had a hard time finding our reservation even after we both spelt out our names. Over the phone the same thing happened, they could find our name, so I gave them my room number and I told them that we were in there, then they found it. As for the concierge service, I don't think they have one. When we inquired about two tours that we had heard about, they couldn't give us information, instead they sent us to the Grand Canyon airport, which was nearby, to find out more information. It turns out the tour from the airport is a helicopter one, but we wanted to go on the train tour. At the gift shop they sell a lollipop with a scorpium inside, so when I asked the lady if the scorpium could be eaten, she said she didn't know, "people buy it and leave". We were totally disappointed.

We were pleased with the cozy atmosphere in the lobby and the cleanliness of our room. The choices on the breakfast buffet could be expanded and improved. The restaurant has a good dinner menu, but expect slow service.
