Working Vacation

Posted Dec 20, 2014
I have had the pleasure of being a repeat visitor to this property for the last four years. The property recently went through major upgrades and it is all for the better. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Even though I'm down for work, I can't help but enjoy the many amenities offered by this property.

Newly remodeled hotel on seven mile beach

Posted Dec 18, 2014
Very nice hotel with great customer service. On a nice stretch of beach although too rocky to get in the water. Can get a little pricey given cayman dollar worth more than US dollar and the added 16% gratuity to all food/drink purchases. But overall good location and would go back

Nice Hotel Great Location

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness and location
Cons: Pricing and eliminate the daily hotel fee for things most people do not do or want
Location: Nice to walk to restaurants
Hotel needs to do a better job of assigning rooms to guests when they upgrade. I understand that they were busy but take care of those that make reservations far in advance and make requests. If someone makes a reservation through a company like Expedia it should still be given same service as someone who books through hotel.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Wonderful stay at Marriott

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Just an excellent resort, with all conveniences and right on a beautiful beach. The staff was excellent and really trying to make our stay memorable.
Cons: Not at the hotel; but I wish we knew of better dining options on the island. I think the restaurants are not comparable to the nice ones in the States
Location: Walk the beach. Swim for long periods in the calm crystal clear aquamarine ocean. Go to Camana Bay complex, local bars restaurants and stores.
The experience was excellent and I highly recommend this hotel and this beach and the gorgeous calm waters. The beach was at the back of the hotel right on seven mile beach. This beach is the best one we have ever seen. The aquamarine waters are excellent and dream like. We swam most of the days, the water was warm, very clear and calm. The hotel has been recently renovated and quite nice. The staff is excellent and we feel the we had a great stay. It was all about a very good hotel with great service and a wonderful beach (beachfront), and weather. Our stay was very peaceful and very safe and secure. You could walk the beach at night. This hotel is located on 7 mile beach, very near Camana Bay (new complex with many restaurants) and near some fast food and convenience and coffee places. It is also close to some nearby entertainment and bar places. It is a 20 minute walk into Georgetown. The ICAO coffee and bakery nearby was excellent for such. We enjoyed takeout sometimes from nearby places for convenience. There are some excellent restaurants in the area, but in general we observed that the quality and freshness of some places were not up the standard we expected. I think this trip was not about the dining but about the peacefulness and the quality of the stay at the Marriott and the surrounding beach, ocean and nearby things to do and to enjoy the weather in a very safe environment. Last night on the plane a local recommended four very good restaurants for our future trip.

Not the best on the Island.....

Posted Dec 14, 2014
Pros: Location and it was newly remodeled.
Cons: Pretty much everything
Location: Walking distance to most things such as Camana Bay and 1.8 miles to Georgetown.
My wife and I selected the Marriott as it was said to be "the best on the island". I have to disagree with this rating. The Westin seems like a much nicer hotel. The Marriott is very expensive and the service is sub-par. The biggest problem we have is the outrageous prices for everything. My wife and i both ate "light breakfast" - two eggs each and a coffee and it's $40. The hotel staff is not very helpful. Mind you they are not bad and they are friendly, but for the prices of everything, I would expect much better. For example, when ordering breakfast, we had to go back and forth 3 times with the kitchen because they kept getting the order wrong. 5 different people were "handling" our order and they kept getting confused. When we were outside at the beach, it took 1 hour for us to get our lunch... we were starving! he beach at the Marriott is TINY as well, nothing like sunbathing with someones feet right next to you head due to the 4 rows of lounged chairs crammed on a beach 40 feet wide. They also charge a "resort fee" of $40 a day which includes.... well, nothing really.... internet, a "daily snack" (which we only saw once and it was cotton candy), and use of "some" water equipment... we wanted to use the kayaks and that didn't count... they wanted us to pay for it. That $40 a day adds up when you're not really getting anything for it. Overall, I was just not impressed with the hotel. Mind you it wasn't a terrible stay, but we certainly won't be going back

Dear Dave, thanks so much for taking the time to provide a review of your recent experience with us. We deeply regret that you were disappointed with some aspects of your vacation experience with us. The satisfaction of our guests is our top priority so I appreciate you bringing to my attention that areas of your experience that you felt warranted improvement. I have shared your comments with the relevant departments and we are evaluating what we can do to enhance the experiences of our future guests. Regarding your comments on our small beach, unfortunately the properties along Seven Mile Beach are affected by the weather systems that pass through during certain times of the year and as a result, we sometimes lose parts of the beach. These are natural seasonal occurrences and the beach does go back to normal after a certain period of time. I truly regret that you were with us during one of these occasions. We understand that this can be detrimental to our guests’ vacation experience and for that we would like to extend our most sincere apologies. All the best, Ingrid Chaves, Director of Operations

First time at the Marriott.

Posted Dec 13, 2014
Pros: Convienence to Seven Mile Beach. Alex at the front desk was superb with customer service.
Cons: Wifi left a lot to be desired as far as connectivity. The hotel's resort fees could be explained a lot better as far as the cost daily.
Location: Right on SMB and numerous restaurants within walking distance.
We have stayed numerous time on Cayman and decided to give the Marriott a try. Major renovations were recently completed and the property is in good condition. Overall, we were pleased with our stay, however this is not the time of year (Thanksgiving) to got to a nice hotel and not be made keenly aware that there are numerous children and infants on site. Also, the no smoking restrictions need to be enforced better. Hard to enjoy your balcony with second hand smoke joining you.

Beautiful hotel on the beach with friendly staff

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Staff is very friendly and accommodating as well as helpful. Facilities are extremely clean and comfortable. Grand Caymen as an island is expensive because of the USD conversion but I would go back in a heartbeat.
