We attempted to stay for one night on our way home from Creston, BC and our room was musty and had carpet beetles. We left at 9:30 pm because of the bugs so did not stay the night after checking in that same day. We brought a beetle to the front desk to show the staff member and she said she could not reimburse us and had to talk to the manager. We agreed. After sending a email to the manager, we have not heard anything back and its been about a week and a half today since sending the email. We will not be staying here again due to the disappointment regarding how the situation was handled. We did not ask to be reimbursed at any point but no acknowledgement has been made whatsoever from the inconvenience the bugs caused us. Terrible accommodation option as a result. Disappointed by the lack of follow-up.

Hi thereFirst of all I would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused. It is noted that you have checked in the evening around 5.20pm to a pet friendly room, ground floor room and checked out around 9.30pm. Please note that this is a roadside motel with nature and small beetle-like insects can be coming in/out with the opening of the door which is not possible to avoid totally and they are not harmful at all. Also kindly note that it is not a strange incident for us or even for other motels in Grand Forks as no one can completely get away from the natural environment with motel setup. However, when you informed this to the front desk, you were immediately offered a new room to ensure a comfortable stay. But you have not accepted the offer and have requested for a check out. Further, you have not even requested a free cancellation at the time of check out as we offered you another room. Honestly, it is confusing as to why you rejected the offer to move into another room. Anyway it is sad to note that it was not mentioned in this review that you were offered a different room to make yourself comfortable. Also it was noted that you have added another point as the room had a musty smell but this was never mentioned before at any point and I can guarantee that no rooms have any bad/musty smell. I believe it is not fair for us to get blamed for not handling the situation, because even if the assigned room was used for 4 hours, a new room was offered, but unfortunately the offer was rejected. Also, you have mentioned it as terrible in your review, but I would like to request you to check our reviews as we have always been rated highly with positive comments. We would have been happy if we were allowed to correct the situation to ensure a comfortable stay as we always value our guests' experience at Grand Forks Inn and also we regret and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Bed was small with only a side table on one side. It’s a motel which wasn’t clear in the advertising and pictures. The continental breakfast was granola bars and dry bread. The tub was small with gross chalking. Basic maintenance could drastically improve the accommodations.

I got charged for an extra night when I stayed only one night and cancelled 24 hours in advance. Expedia said it was up to the hotel and hotel said it was up to Expedia. They both told me it was ok but hotel charged me anyways. Have been a frequent customer for 15 years due to convenience. Hotel is under new management and it shows unfortunately. Also 5 flies in room last time I stayed which was in October. Time to find better places to stay in grand forks! They have lost a valued frequent family!

We have stayed at this hotel for many years but over our last few stays we find both ongoing maintenance and cleanliness less and less up to earlier year standards, i.e., in the room lampshade was torn and a light bulb out over the sink, door to the mini fridge in the breakfast room was wiped but left with visible, grey smudges. It was disappointing to see the hotel slipping in standards and falling into disrepair.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there was a guest who left 4 dogs in their truck overnight and they set off the vehicle alarm every 15 minutes. The staff had to deal with several disgruntled guests, but allowed late check out for guests who couldn’t sleep because of it. It’s unfortunate because situations like this often lead to bad reviews, when there wasn’t much the staff could do in this specific instance. I thought they handled it very well.

The staff at check in was not helpful. The room was not clean - the bed and the toilet were clean but there were dirty hand prints on the door, thick dust on the baseboards and heater, hair on the bathroom floor and the outside edges of the shower stall were dirty. There were no washcloths. The gentleman at check was gracious and pleasant. I would not go back.

PRETTY GOOD - NICE STAFF
This motel was acceptable for a one night stay. If you intend to do breakfast, ensure you get there early. If there are any crews there, they get up early and wipe out the food before anyone else can get a share.

We really liked the pool and the maintenance of the pool. The staff was very Friendly. The Continental Breakfast was horrible. Parking was difficult. Rooms are quite small.

Unfortunately we did not keep our reservation. We were called home. Sadly,It appears we lost our $217.35 room fee. We telephoned to cancel our room, but because we booked through expedia, the room could not be cancelled.

We’ve stayed here a total of three times now and will continue to return yearly. Clean, quiet and reasonably priced. Could use some upgrading but overall a great place to stay. Their Breakfast is not very good however so we never ate there.
