“Got a great deal& it was what we expected”
We stayed at this hotel in May 2010. We booked last minute and got a fairly decent deal on the rooms. I had read some review and so my expectations weren't high and that's pretty much what we got - the rooms were tidy and pretty simple but they served our purpose of basically a place to sleep. We did take in the continental breakfast the first morning - it has potential. However the young man that was working that morning could use some guidance as he did seem overwhelmed with the replenishing of items and.....wearing plastic gloves to touch the food is not cleanly if your using the gloves to touch everything else, i.e. pick up things off the floor, the windowsill or the garbage. The food variety was okay but the space is small and due to the question of the food handling we did not go back the 2nd morning. The hotel staff were friendly when we spoke with them and there were people in the pool whenever we walked by but we did not use it - if we just need a place to sleep again and for the same price we would probably go back .
“kinda dingy, but a good price”
So if you just want a place to crash for the night and don't need to be somewhere really nice, this will do. The price was definitely good. However, the carpet looked like no one had vaccumed for a while and the general maintenance of the room was pretty bad. Hotel looks pretty good from the outside.
“Settle Inn-Grand Forks”
The motel was ok, not great but the price was right.
“Nice enough for a weekend”
I was pretty basic. I was a really good price for a weekend stay, but if I was in town any longer it would have been nice to have something a little better.
“Only one complaint”
The Settle Inn was a nice place for someone to stay who is on a budget, but the only thing we were not happy about was that the hallway stunk really bad of cigarettes. We had requested a non-smoking room and it didn't really seem to smell, but as soon as we left the room we smelled cigarettes.
“Not Too Happy”
The bathroom was very dirty and not kept up. We asked for a fridge before we got there and they said they would save one but when we arrived they said they did not have any left.(which is why I asked a few weeks ahead) Hotel in general needs some up keep.
“You get what you pay for”
We didn't get much sleep at this hotel simply because our room was near the ice machine/game room which doesn't have a door. The games weren't the issue, it was people getting ice frequently throughout the night until the wee hours of the morning (last we heard was at 3am). The bathroom door was falling off due to screws missing in the hinge. We requested non-smoking due to allergies and it seems that we were in a former smoking room in an active smoking wing - so it stunk pretty bad. There were q-tips left in our garbage can when we checked in and our 2 year old found a toothpick on the floor and had it in her mouth before we knew it - yuck! The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was well stocked one of the mornings.
“If you are looking for a cheap place to stay...this works!”
For the price we paid...it was good. There's a pool, nothing special, but entertained our kids for awhile. Rooms are small, but we are a family of 5...so it's hard to find enough room for all of us to be really comfortable in. We were there on a Saturday and not many other people were there (not crowded). The breakfast was good, good selection for my picky children!
“Satisfied”
Rooms were average but clean. Looks like they were updating things. Shower area needed improvement. Beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good. Would stay again...
“Not bad, not great”
For the money it's not bad for the weekend.
