Great location on the North ShorePosted Jun 12, 2015
Location of this resort is fantastic! They have a beautiful hiking trail located right on the property, a beach, fire pits on the beach that they light for you, and beach walk area and a frisbee golf course! We stayed in the poplar rooms and the jetted tub was a nice addition along with the fireplace! You can bring your own food and s'mores kits or buy at the lodge. we booked with one of their specials 3 nights for the price of two and I thought that price was right on. We went here for our 10 yr anniversary and we will definitely be back again. This resort is also located near many activities and hiking trails and sites to go see. I would suggest Devils kettle hike and the caribou hike

Pros: The staff was helpful and the food at both the Pub and main dinning room was great.
Cons: A lot, see above
Location: If you like the outdoors the location is great, many parks with beautiful waterfalls, good trout fishing and kayaking. Listen also has great skiing.
When we arrived the sheets on the bed were dirty and I noticed mold growing around the bath tube. The room was hot and had No air conditioned. The only way you could cool down was to open windows. I will not stay there again

Nice lodge. Great staff.Posted Apr 5, 2015
I was misled by the website. I thought our condo would have the kitchen and living space like I saw on the website however it was just a bed and a mini fridge. But it was ok. There was trash all over outside in the brush that we saw along out walk from has condo to the lodge. The lodge was beautiful and the staff was great. We are hoping to go back again.

Lake views are nice but hallways are noisyPosted Mar 31, 2015
Pros: The lake view out the window was wonderful & hearing the waves in the morning. The resort beach was my favorite place onsite.
Cons: The door locks are odd, it always took several tries to lock it. Lots of hallway noise.
Location: The resort beach is very nice but this is very far from any kind of shopping or restaurants. Closest is Grand Marais (20+ minutes)
They have a very nice lobby where you can play checkers or read by the fireplace. The resort beach is really wonderful and it was quiet (probably because it was a windy/chilly day with light rain). I loved having a window facing the lake and listening to the waves in the morning. I couldn't really hear the lake at night though because I was three doors down from the stairs - all I could hear until about 11pm was kids running. There is a restaurant & a pub here but that's about it. If you want pizza or popcorn/snacks for a movie then you need to drive about 20-25 minutes north to Grand Marais. The staff was all really nice and all the decor is really cute rustic stuff :)

Great views close to skiingPosted Mar 12, 2015
Kids loved the pool, hot tub was great after a day of skiing, restaurant and gift shop on site. Campfire on the beach was great, nice walk on beach at the end of the day!

Beautiful Setting on Lake SuperiorPosted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: Lots of activities are offered by the staff. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Location: Fall season is great for color drives and hikes. Grand Marais has great art galleries and places to eat. Lutsen Mountain is good for skiing .
An older lodge with lots of character in a beautiful setting. We took an organized hike to see the fall colors with a delightful young lady. Food in dining room and pub is very good. Only 20 minutes from Grand Marais. Warm and inviting lobby with traditional lodge furniture and fireplace. Due to history of the lodge, the bathrooms are small. The drains in our bathroom were quite clogged. If those things don't bother you, this is a great place for an authentic North Shore experience.

Very tiny room with a full size bed. NO: AC, fridge available, ice machine on floor, or couch in room. Good just to sleep and go exploring. Not suitable for families. Great for single traveler. Tight space even for two adults. However, for the economy price, it was okay.

Spectacular ViewsPosted Oct 4, 2011
My wife and I spent a short but wonderful weekend at Lutsen Resort during the peak of the fall colors. We stayed in one of the Poplar River condo units and were extremely pleased with our stay. The views from our room were spectacular, the room was clean and had all the amenities we needed and more. A cozy fireplace and a whirlpool tub were added pleasures. Lakeside bonfires were a great opportunity to meet some fun and interesting people. We would most definitely consider returning to Lutsen Resort if we return to the same area again.

Loved the campfires on shore!Posted Jul 26, 2011
We stayed in a lodge room that was very comfortable with a north woods feel. The pool had that "well used" kind of smell, so we didn't spend much time in there. The campfires on shore were my favorite part. They sell smores kits and that's fun. The place was nice, nothing fancy, but for the price I thought it could have included some sort of breakfast.
