Hotel is close to highway and downtown.Posted May 10, 2015
Our room was nice looking.. But after being in it... The bathroom was dirty, and the air did not work at all. We were on top floor in the corner and I thought that was why, but then began hearing everyone saying the same thing. They didn't seem to care about anyone complaining about it.

HoneymoonPosted Apr 28, 2015
This was our honeymoon that we spent $264 on. We had an issue with amenities being refilled in our room. The coffee was only half refilled most of the time, the microwave had no handle on it to open it. The continental breakfast was dried out with frozen egg omelets and the microwave barely worked to warm them. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. ..the only upside.

DisappointingPosted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: It had beds so I could sleep.
Cons: Maintenance needs to be done through out the hotel.
Location: Just off highway, worked for my need, not much in this area.
Older hotel - old carpet, old hotel, room doors had gaps around them, windows do not close and did not have a latch. The bathroom door had been kicked in and so did not latch. There were too many electrical devices in room with too few outlets: at desk there were 2 lamps, microwave, refrigerator, and TV = all in one outlet. At bed there were 2 Comfort air beds (that did not work), a lamp, and clock, all in one power strip. The one outlet you could reach near the door was so worn out it would not hold a plug.

Avoid if you canPosted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: They had pretty green bedspreads.
Cons: The entire facility is rundown, out of date, and can use improvement. Customer service training desperately needed.
Location: Not really close to anything except the interstate. Kind of a sketchy area.
Completely overpriced for what is provided. Hotel staff was unfriendly, borderline rude. One fella even mentioned how he was trying to leave for the night (with his coat and bag in hand) when we asked a question. No fan in bathroom making it stuffy after showers. The sleep numbers beds did not function properly... everyone woke up with a sore back. Toilet began leaking at 3AM. Shower curtain was the beginning of a science project. Grout was disgusting. Wouldn't walk on the carpet without shoes. Hotel directory was sticky.

No frills hotel in convenient locationPosted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: location, cleanliness, staff, spaciousness of room
Cons: breakfast (particularly for those who cannot eat gluten), beds, simpler controls for heating/cooling, look of outside grounds, bedroom door in suites
Location: Convenient to freeway (196), Rivertown Mall, and other shopping and dining. Downtown Grand Rapids is just a few minutes away.
This hotel is a basic, clean hotel with spacious rooms and friendly, efficient staff. The location is convenient to the freeway and to shopping and dining, but it is still a quiet hotel. The grounds are no frills, just like the hotel. Television channels are limited, although there are a couple of premium channels. Our non-smoking room had a cigarette hole in the coverlet. Sleep Number beds do not work for me, so I would likely not stay there again. If you are traveling with kids, it's good to know that the bathroom and a sink/microwave/fridge area separate the bedroom from the living area. There is no bedroom door.

Simple, clean and convenientPosted Mar 21, 2015
Not fancy, but everything was clean, neat and working properly. An older hotel, but very well maintained. Staff is excellent. If you are looking for an inexpensive room, you will not find a better place.

volleyballPosted Mar 6, 2015
Pros: Very clean, sleep number beds
Cons: still needs updating, but its looking pretty good
Location: off 196 and pefect if you are there for fournaments that involve GVSU and GRCC and Devos.
There to play in the Lake Michigan Open Power League (Volleyball) - in between GVSU and GRCC. 15 minutes from Devos, right of 196. Already booked for next two visits in April and May! Mr. Vyjay was extremely accomodating - got us checked in early so we didn't have to fuss later after playing. This has been renovated, painters were there (not in the evening making noise like some places) - the the renovating continues. Breakfast was perfect and started at 6.

Fixer upperPosted Mar 5, 2015
I live in IN and stay at this hotel every time I visit GR. After this visit I am rethinking that choice. It is usually clean with a decent breakfast. The front desk guys are really friendly. This last visit however was very disappointing. Our room wasn't cleaned properly. The floor wasn't vacuumed and the coffee maker had old coffee in it. That could have been over looked had it not been for the black stuff in the toilet. It was so gross. The breakfast was not good this time either. The breakfast breads, muffins and bagels were all dry, the oatmeal partially cooked, and because they don't offer a hot breakfast people lined up for the make your own waffles. I'll give them another chance because this was not their normal practices, but let me tell you, if this kind of hotel stay happens again, we will not come back.
