Grass Valley Stay

Posted May 12, 2014
The hotel is a bit overpriced for its condition. Upon arriving there was a sign on the door saying that the host was on the property...after calling she arrived very quickly. The room was ok upon first glance but there were things that could have been better for a $100 per night hotel such as shampoo (not just cheap soap) in the shower and the bathroom facilities in general were in poor shape (cracked stucco, poor shower head, generally worn out bathroom area). It was good to have a mini fridge, micro, and coffee maker but the fridge froze everything we had.

seedy activity, police patrolling at night

Posted Aug 7, 2013
Pros: staff friendly, room very clean and nice
Cons: new management
Location: located between grass valley and nevada city, can't walk must drive to go anywhere, nothing really near by
no chain on inside of door, men walking around at all hours watching, feeling of not being safe, left a day early because of this

the MOLD hotel

Posted Jul 26, 2013
Pros: leaving
Cons: Everything. Keep the lady at the front desk and demo the rest.
Location: business trip.
When you drive up to a motel and the roof is badly covered with a tarp blowing in the wind, you KNOW it's going to be an awful experience. I requested a room well away from the roof problems, but was placed instead directly next to the problems. And the problems, not surprisingly, were also our room which smells very, very strongly of bleach. The carpet was wet. The manager had two barking pit bulls leaping at the window facing the parking lot. The bathroom had been "repaired" by a 10 year old and was so bad neither my husband and I had the courage to bath. There is also a significant "room for an hour" crowd that frequents this place. Avoid at all costs - you would be more comfortable sleeping in your car.

Never again

This is a very old motel, recently rehabilitated in a crude way. White paint covers a multitude of blemishes. It was clean. The price was too high and definitely not good value. The breakfast offering was meager to say the least.

Basic Motel, Location Works

Posted Sep 1, 2010
This is a basic motel, not fancy or updated - plain, simple and clean. They have a nice pool. I stay here because I don't spend time in my room (except to sleep) when I am in Grass Valley. For the time I spend at the motel, the price makes sense.I grew up in Nevada City, I have no need to stay in a historical monument or simular. I have had my kids use the pool (they loved it). It is close to the hospital, between Brunswick and Main St, Grass Valley. Freeway access is easy. The continental breakfast is something you might want to skip - it is very, very basic.(Head over to Brunswick and pick up a fresh pastry or munchie at The Flower Garden). Everytime I have stayed there, they were hosting a family reunion. As for repairs... the towels are silly: basic white towels with a magic marker "H" on them. The coffee makers need to be replaced, last year our room was ant infested (they took care of it immediately), this year there wasn't a bug visable. Obviousely I have stayed there more than once, so it isn't that bad! One Star
