Gaylord Hotel

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
The clerk was surly and not friendly - no 'thank you' for staying. No elevator so climbed to the second floor which pulled a back muscle so that was a problem for 3 days. The room was old; major updating needed everywhere. The 'breakfast' was not anything worthwhile.

First they couldn't find my reservation, then the key card wouldn't work. The pool has been shut down for no safety equipment or sanitation.

Pick a different hotel

Posted Aug 5, 2014
The first thing I noticed upon entering the hotel room was a very strange smell. The room was supposed to be a nob-smoking room, but there was definitely a smoke odor along with a musty odor lingering in the room. We went and bough Febreeze to try to lessen the smell. My husband was up early the first morning of our stay and went to our car to get something. At 6:00 AM there was no staff anywhere. Another guest asked my husband if he knew whether the coffee that was out was fresh and where the "free breakfast" items were. My husband doesn't usually care where we stay as long as the room is reasonably priced, but even he said he would never stay at this hotel again.

Good value for the $$$.

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: As ABOVE.
Cons: Small things, like towel bars, a little paint here & there to brighten/clean things up.
Location: Weren't there for that, passing thru.
Good value for the $$ for a 1night stay. Obviously not the "best condition" I've ever stayed, but clean and acceptable. (other than the towel bar falling off the wall when you "literally" touched it to hang your towel. Someone obviously ignoring this situation and fixing it. Ugh.

Bad experience

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Cons: Fix the pool and hot tub.
Location: Alpenfest was on and it was fun.
We checked in and asked to be by the pool. They didn't tell us that the pool was closed down. When we went to go to the pool the door was locked so we looked in the window and could see the pool was all green and the hot tub was drained. I asked about it and they said it was closed down. They should have told us that at check in. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Misleading ad on Expedia website.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The beds.
Cons: The staff, continental breakfast and the pool and hot tub.
Location: Decent location with shopping and expressway nearby.
We chose this hotel because of the pool and hot tub ad for our grandchildren only to get there and find out it was all "newspapered" up with an "under construction" sign in the windows of the pool area. Our grandchildren were very disappointed as were we. The continental breakfast was only 2 cereals and toast or bagel.
