Felt like we were in the basement at the back of the resort. No allocated car park. Long walk to room with luggage. Booked for three - towels for 2.

An okay hotel

Booked online for a King room but when we got to the room, it was a "zipper King" (2 singles put together). Reception said that is always the case when booking online & there was nothing they could do. Tennis court lights came on at 3am & stayed on all night. So many bugs & mozzies in the room!

Location: Great beach. Lovely cafes. Enjoyed watching familie splay tennis etc.
Overall a lovely break. A few areas to be addressed to improve the experience are below- 1. On day 2 a staff member rang to see why we hadn't vacated our room. The person left a message and instructed me to call back.When I tried the phone at the resort rang and rang - no answer. needless to say we were getting very anxious - not want we wanted on a holiday weekend. When I eventually got through the staff member went to put me on hold until I objected strongly. This was on Saturday morning when we were booked to leave on Sunday. This call put a damper on our relaxing cafe breakfast. When we arrived I reconfirmed that our original Saturday night booking through Expedia had been added to with the Friday night over the phone booking to make sure we stayed in the same room and had no fuss. Obviously this message didn't get through. 2. When I called to make the original booking for the Friday night the phone rang and rang. I get teh feel more staff are required. 3. Paying a surcharge on a credit card payment upon departure leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This was not mentioned at any time prior to checking out and is not in our experience common practice at other venues. Hope this feedback helps to improve service.

Pros: I liked the staff, its location, and hotel looks very smart on first impressions
Cons: I think the rooms need a bit of an update.
Location: We went for great walks along the breach front
The hotel staff were very good, we went to the hotel restaurant and had a great meal. I think the hotel rooms need a bit of love, the upholstery is looking very tired on the tub chairs.

Herritage Room

Heritage Room - Clean, slightly outdated, smaller than I thought it would be; even a ibis hotel I've stayed at for $99 a night was bigger and had a more modern feel. Dining - Buffet Breakfast was good, however when we arrived there was only one staff member attending to everyone, meaning he was at the bar serving drinks, greeting and taking the guests names/ rooms, restocking the food and cleaning the tables: I think for $200 a night Mantra can afford to put at least two people to delegate duties to. Dinner was good, especially the seafood chowder (yum), the beef was average, good deal $45 for two courses. Facilities - nice swimming pool and spa, great that you can rent out bikes ( low riders pretty cool), I think it would be a good hotel to keep the family busy/ entertained Location - absolutely fantastic, our room had an ocean view and was a step away from the beach, 10 min drive to erskines falls, 1.5hrs to otway treetop walk, shops just a min walk from hotel

We love Lorne and staying at Mantra makes it even better as it is walking distance to everything. We enjoyed tennis followed by happy hour by the fire and loved the spa.
