“Convenient, clean”
My wife and I enjoyed our brief stay here in early June. Very convenient (about 3-4 blocks from Queen St Station, and a block off of the shops (and bars) of Sauchiehall St. That was about the only negative: our room overlooked the side of the hotel facing between that and Bath St. Sat night, at 11, the street was quite loud and rowdy (good natured), noticeable even 6 floors up (windows closed: didn't seem we could open them). That was one more negative (no A/C, as it had been in the 80s that day), but that just seems to be the way it is in many hotels. On both counts of the negatives above, I don't so much fault the hotel, and the circumstances may be rather unique. Also, the front of the hotel did show open windows, so perhaps there were really 2 buildings in one and things may vary in the front building. I guess the only real negative I can hold against the hotel is that curiously, the shower curtain was flimsy and a couple inches too long, so it dangled in the water as you showered. Not as sanitary as it could be, as I don't imagine that's cleaned between guests. I'll end on a positive note: when we did spend a little time in the room, the cable TV offered lots of choices. This was our 4th hotel in our travels (after 2, 3, and 4-star stays in Edinburghs), and the others had the normal handful of channels so common in the UK. The Marks had about 30 channels. Free wireless internet, too. I'm sure most would find the Marks to be very pleasant on a number of levels.
“Excellent hotel with very low price”
The Hotel is locating in the center of glasgow city. There are many resterants and stores near the hotel, you can buy or eat almost everyting in just 5-mins walking. The room is clean and the price is very cheap. I will book this hotel again if I have chance to visit glasgow.
“Great hotel for downtown Glasgow”
Excellent location in downtown Glasgow, with ready access to nearby restaurants, shops and pubs. Very good staff who were helpful with booking taxis. Good Scottish breakfast was included in our fare.
“Very nice”
This hotel is clean, comfortable, and attractive. It is right in central Glasgow so we didn't need to taxi or bus around much. It is also near the main bus station-we could walk with our luggage to the hotel within 5 to 10 minutes.
“Fantasic Hotel in Old Town”
Excellent Hotel. Service was fantastic and the hotel is clean, accessible and a beautiful building. The location to the center of Old Town is ideal
“Glasgow”
Excellent location - close to shopping and sites. Very accommodating and friendly staff.
“Our Stay at the Marks”
The Marks Hotel was supurb in every way. It was extremely quiet and clean. The hotel personnel were helpful and friendly. The breakfast each morning was quite large filling, and delicious. The hotel was centrally located, near to the train station, and also to other attractions and restaurants.
“Great location, would stay again”
Arrived at 9 am, was given a room immediately. Staff was friendly and helpful; also gave directions and provided a map of the city center. Central location, grocery & drugstores 1 block over (Sauchiehall) a 10 minute walk to George Square (where tours leave from), and Queen Street rail station. Rooms were average- clean, a good size, comfortable bed.
“Good Choice in Glasgow”
We spent three nights at the hotel as we toured the city and attended the bagpipe championships. It is a nice hotel, the room decoration is a bit bold, but it was very comfortable and in a great location. We would stay there again if we get back to Scotland.
“Not impressed”
Marks Hotel is well situated, in the center of Glasgow. What has to be modified is information on the reception. Employers didn't know anything about transports, how to get main places to visit and so on
