Enjoyed the concert but not the hotel. Room too warm and clostraphobic.

Disappointing

Posted May 12, 2014
Pros: Staff very friendly
Cons: loads
Would not stay here again, various things wrong, poor continental breakfast, terrible draft from window onto bed, very small room and bath room, toilet seat loose, furry throw on bed. Lighting off until sensors tripped.

Nice bargain stay

We were the only people staying of a Tuesday night, so were given the largest room. Room was big, modern and comfortable. The bed was really comfy, shower was powerful, and a nice continental breakfast was left outside our door at the time we requested. Exceeded our expectations for a bargain stay. The location couldn't be better for visiting Glasgow, the merchant city is buzzing with bars and restaurants and this is right in the heart of it.

Friendly and convenient

Helpful friendly staff and the Glasshouse multistorey car park round the corner is easy to get to, handy and reasonably cheap for overnight parking if you get your token validated at the hotel.

Gem of a spot!

Great location. Fantastic dinner in the pub. Quality service. Next time we won't opt for the small room to save money, as it really is small. The bed was also hard. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and will likely stay again and get a larger room to see if it is more comfortable.

Its a pub with rooms

Promises much more than it delivers. The pub is great and full of character, but I'm afraid the hotel doesn't live up to expectations. I'm not sure what the word 'boutique' means when applied to hotels? Sounds stylish and classy, but broken tiles in the shower, peeling wallpaper and poor quality joinery work around the skirtings are not my idea of class and style even allowing for the fact that it is only 2*. The entrance to the upper floor was not particularly inviting either - up a rather industrial looking stairway and through a fire door into a very small 'foyer' leading to what was like an air lock of two fire doors that led to an even smaller area from which three doors entered the bedrooms. Felt cramped and claustrophobic. Pity, because I wanted it to be good.

Pros: Location and we a regulars in the pub!
Cons: All very good
Location: Loads to do.
Arrived and was greeted with a smile and escorted to our room. Room was ideal, and clean and very comfortable. Heading out to bellahouston for the concert and explained we may be late back and informed that the keys we had fitted to doors so no a problem. Overall excellent location and sifted our needs. Will certainly use this hotel again.

Pros: Location and freedom to come and go with front door key.
Cons: Bathroom cleanliness and expensive bar.
Location: Fantastic location, close to everything you could possibly want.
Great location, room lovely, bathroom was not as clean as it could have been though, and bar was lovely but quite expensive.

Great stay in the Merchant City

Posted Apr 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
After a short walk from the Queen Street Station to our destination, we checked in with the pub staff and were escorted up to the small lobby for the rooms for formal check in. Our room was fantastic and even though situated above the pub, we didn't hear any noise from it. I will note that we did hear outside street / pedestrian noises but those were minimal. The room itself had modern stylings and all items were clean & functional. The staff members we spoke to were all friendly and helpful. The location was a great base for exploring the Merchant City area of Glasgow as well as nearby access to assorted public transportation options. Would stay here again without question.
