We stayed at Winchester Mansions for our week long stay in Cape Town and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't get a sea view but considering the noise of crashing waves from the hotel's front I wouldn't say that was necessarily a bad thing! We had a 'mountain view' instead, still a very good room.
The front desk staff were great and always keen to help or advise (the free shuttle to the V&A Waterfront was really useful), the restaurant is of high standard and the hotel bar is a popular haunt for locals looking for a few drinks after work. The room decor could perhaps do with a little updating but was still good and, if anything we felt we were being 'over-serviced' ... a lot of staff tasked with cleaning rooms and serving in the restaraunt!
The best thing about the hotel is it's look and feel, by far the prettiest in Sea Point. The open courtyard and external corridors give it a really clasy feel inside as does the view when looking back towards it from the sea front.
The location is pretty good, taxis into the centre of town or down to Camps Bay are relatively cheap and, if need be, the front desk will arrange for the driver to take you if he's available (similar price). The free shuttle to the V&A Waterfront is great though, came in very useful.
All in all, a very pleasant place to stay ... but what is the golf putting equipment in the corridors about, really?

I enjoyed the room, the staff, the outside gardens, and the breakfasts. They make a huge spread (German-style) with meats and cheeses, and homemade croissants, etc. plus you can have eggs and speciality coffees, etc. It's really lovely. The staff are super friendly and helpful and make lots of arrangements, taxis, etc. for you. They have a driver that is also a tour guide and he was awesome and very accommodating. The internet was not always working well, which is the only downside about my experience since I was there to work and needed to use it. It's a $5 taxi ride to most things in town. There are restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and you can easily get to the beachwalk and Camps Bay. The V&A waterfront is also nearby and walking distance during the day.

I've stayed in Jambo Guest Housel for three days, and cannot recollect anything better. It was all I wanted - easy booking, easy and timely transfer from and to airport, nice greeting by the hosts, very impressivelly designed and decorated house with unique character of each room, beautiful garden, very good location close to the places of interest and at the same time very quite and family-like.
I would recomend Jambo Guest House to any of my friend, and when have the chance to come again, will stay there with great pleasure.
My special thanks and warm greetings to the dear hosts - Barry and Mina. They made their Jambo House so welcoming and comfortable! Wish to come back and meet them again!

The hotel might look abit dated, need some modenisation at the lobby area, however, the service was excelent.. the room was nice and clean and just got to love the revolving restaurant on the top of the hotel. The view was fantastic and food was marvelous!.. Highly recommended! Oh not to mention about the warm hospitality of the staffs!
