“An Exceptional Hotel”
We are a family of four and stayed here on the next to last evening of a college-hunting road trip. This hotel is exceptional in almost every way. It is well-designed, aesthetically pleasing, convenient, staffed by friendly people, and the pool is terrific and new poolside furniture decorates the area around it. The room was huge and well-appointed.
The only problem we had - and it was easy to get over - was the extremely slow service at breakfast. We weren't sure we were going to make it for our appointment to Elon on time, because the line was so long and the service was quite slow. It took easily twenty - thirty minutes for them to bring us three yogurt parfaits and a scone. One gentleman there seemed new and could have been part of the problem; I had ordered two coffees from him earlier that morning to take up to the room while we showered and dressed, and he had to read some kind of instruction manual to see how to make them.
Other than that, we highly, highly, highly recommend this hotel. If our son is accepted at Elon and decides to go, we know where we will stay and we will be happy to do so.
And - if you stay here - you must eat at The Village Grill. I have travelled widely and I would put the meal I had on par with the best meals I have ever had - anywhere in the world. The shrimp and grits with andouille was fantastic, as was the key lime margarita I washed it down with, and the cheesecake I had for dessert. A real pro waitress also.
