“Limitations on airport shuttle, be sure to ask for specifics on availability.”
Our second time around at this Courtyard Marriott in Greensboro. Last year it was brand new, and perfect; including the room, service and the airport shuttle service.
This time around we had problems. In making the reservation, I had requested a room away from the elevators and vending machines. Upon check-in, I asked if they had been able to honor this request and was told "yes."
When we went to the room, guess where it was? Right beside the elevator (with multiple high school sports teams roaming the hall). When I called back down to ask to be moved, she said "sure, just bring your key down and we"ll get you switched." When I got back to the lobby she informed me there were no other rooms available.
The bigger issue though was with the airport shuttle. It was one of the main reasons we chose the Courtyard...as we had used it before without problems. This year, I asked for a 5:30 shuttle and she informed me that the shuttle did not start on weekends until 7:00 a.m. I asked why this was not disclosed on the web site and she just stared at me as if she did not understand the question.
I then asked for a 5:00 a.m. wake up call and as you might have guessed, the phone never rang. I guess it was a good thing we had a back-up.
Kudos to the Piedmont Triad Taxi service which saved the day on our shuttle.
The bottom line is there are lots of new hotels in this area of Greensboro...check around and ask specific questions. We may or may not return.
