We went to the Bel Air Plantation on our Honeymoon. I must say that it exceeded our expectations.

My wife and I were looking for a honeymoon that allowed us to be away from touristy areas, enjoy the natural beauty of the raw local Caribbean and still be close enough to drive to nightlife and great restaurants. Well, Bel Air Plantation in Grenada was amazing. The resort is less of a resort and more of your own private home on a breathtaking hillside looking over the bay. The restaurant on the premises was fantastic (I recommend the Calaloo soup and vegetarian peas). The room was immaculate, beautiful and the bed and linens were the most comfortable I have ever felt. They also have a beautiful pool with a breathtaking view of the bay as you swim. We rented a car to get us into St. George and to many amazing local beaches. You must be confident with driving on the left and on narrow, winding roads. If you don't plan on renting a car, the resort can help you find a taxi service and recommend places for you to go.

a perfect hideaway!

the individual cottages are well spread out on quite a steep hill - with steps up or down to your individual cottage so really not suitable for those not able to walk well, with the reception and restaurant being down at the bottom of the hill, and the lovely infinity pool and cottages being half way up. we found it a very peaceful, private and pretty place - overlooking the harbour - and was ideal for bird watching from our balcony. the beach was disappointing, but free transport was offered to go to and from a better beach at La Sagesse nature centre - 8 mins away. you could also walk over the hill and get there in half and hour. the receptionist was most helpful with nothing too much trouble and nice with it! the food at the restaurant was very good, with a varied menu - however the service could be slow -so order the food before the drinks and chill out for the wait in their observation room or in the attractive gardens!

The Bel Air Planation is ideal for people wanting a quiet laid back holiday, it's not for restless souls. The detached villas and cottages are very well appointed and designed for the maximum privicy with stunning sea and garden views. The well kept grounds are beautiful with mature trees and flowers. The pool is just the right size for the property, just a few more umbrellas are needed to shade the hot sun. The restaurant is good and all meals were excellent, maybe the service a bit slow at times but we were not in any hurry. There is a small sandy beach but it gets washed away in the wind but a small area of decking looking out to sea near the restaurant would make a lovely place to sit, sunbathe or read, as there are many shady trees there and be an alternative to the pool and villa terraces. A larger beach is just around the bay and transport is free. So if you are looking to de-stress in beautiful quiet surroundings then Bel Air Planation is just perfect.
