Nice economic Hotel

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: location, staff and price
Cons: beds are hard and room needs better ventilation.
Location: Close to the brand new Riu Hotel, great restaurants.
Nice Hotel, great staff, very good location for a very good price. The train that goes by couple of times a day can be a bit annoying, but for the price and location is worth it. I will definitely stay here again.

Very convenient to the Riu Hotel.

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Pros: Described above. Mainly price, convenience and c.omfort
Cons: Shower head needed replacement.
Location: Very convenient for attending RIU activities and have comfort and convenience at a reasonable price.
Was attending a conference at the Riu Hotel. Price was much more reasonable here for a very comfortable room, clean room and very helpful staff. I speak no Spanish and had no problems. There was always someone at the main desk that spoke English. Excellent buffet breakfast at 85.00. Best fresh fruits ever. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Not much English spoken in the dining room so ordering other meals was more challenging. Still wait staff was patient and always delivered what was in the picture. My room was a little farther from the train tracks and there was noise but after A day I didn't notice the noise. Beautifully maintained grounds, landscaping and pool. Plenty of parking. Felt safe walking in the neighborhood day or night.

Train track 30 meters from hotel property

Posted Feb 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
The most important thing to note is that there's a train track 30 meters from the hotel. The train passes by more or less hourly (especially at night) and blows the whistle as it's crossing the highway nearby. It sounds like it's in the room with you. I booked this hotel for 4 nights, but left after two and checked in elsewhere so that we could sleep. While the hotel has a nice little courtyard, the rooms (especially standard ones) are filled with cheap, decaying furniture. The beds have few blankets (really just tiny sheets). Complaints go mostly unheeded. I can't think of a situation that would warrant booking this hotel again.

I would not go again

Posted Jul 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
Nobody tells you there is a train passing by every single night, at any time, and that you feel like it is inside your room! If you are planning to relax...forget about this place, it is not relaxing at all. If we talk about cleanliness..is ok, but the sheets are full of holes...The restaurant..I did not like the food, but I have to eat there because there is nothing close by. I would not recommend this place at all.

Trees in the middle of a dusty city

Posted Jun 8, 2013
Pros: The best thing about this hotel is the attentive staff who were extremely helpful and attentive, and the grounds are lovely and tranquil.
Cons: Maybe softer beds. Apparently some off the rooms are more soundproof and quieter so don't hear trains as much.
Location: Many international restaurants within walking distance. Buses or taxis to urban center.
The best thing about this hotel is the attentive staff who were extremely helpful and attentive (we speak Spanish, so don't know if they would be able to answer requests in English). They booked a tour to the Guachimontones archaeological site, told us how to take a bus to the Sunday crafts fair at Tonanla, called taxis when the hotel shuttle van was unavailable (you can save lots of cash by using the shuttle which will take you downtown or nearby for free -- but tip the driver). Really appreciated the well kept mini-forest on the grounds, full of chirping birds in the morning, and cool on hot afternoons. The breakfast is also very good and you should pay to have it included. Less hustle than in historic zone. Rooms were clean, roomy & comfortable -- but bed is HARD (seems to be the case in most Mexican hotels). If you arrive by car you can park it right outside your room. Yes, there are VERY loud trains at odd hours of the night, but after a few nights you can get used to them. I'd gladly stay there again.

Train goes by right outside

Posted Jan 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
It is conveniently located, close to a lot of places. It is clean and at a very low price, BUT there's a rail road just outside the hotel and a train honks incredibly loud every time it passes by... at midnight, 2, 3, 5 in the morning. If you're a light sleeper stay away from this hotel, otherwise go for it.

Location is the only advantage.

Posted Nov 28, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was disappointing. I was expecting more. The room was in a bad state. The mattresses were full size not queen as the ad said when I made the reservation. They were made for short people or kids. The carpet was so dirty that we had to wear shoes all the time. The lights were so dim that we could hardly see the colors. The noise of the train was so loud that I couldn't sleep. The only positive points I can mention here is the location.

Mostly great

Posted Aug 19, 2011 on Hotels.com
Regarding the pool, I saw people cleaning it every morning, but the water would probably be more clear if the filter were replaced or improved. The hotel is great and the people who work there are friendly. The only inconvenience is the location close to the train which passes a couple of times in the night and is loud. They would do well to insulate doors and windows for noise. Great location, close to many restaurants.

Good value - except for the train

Posted Aug 15, 2010 on Hotels.com
The hotel is great. It's in a good part of town, near restaurants and bars as well as the Minerva and los Arcos areas. The pool is nice (but could be skimmed for leaves a bit more) and there is wireless internet available. The "fitness facilities" are two treadmills. Overall the service was excellent and I recommend this hotel, provided the train passing a few times a day doesn't pose a nuisance to you. I recommend the bars "Koma y Tome" and "Morena Mia" on the other side of the street from this hotel.
