Great Hotel in DowntownPosted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: I liked the history behind it, the proximity to the cathedral, and the great service provided by the staff.
Cons: I would not improve anything about the hotel. It is a historical gem, built in 1610.
Location: The hotel is situated behind the municipal palace and very close to the Cathedral.
I have stayed at this hotel at least four times and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Guadalajara.

Centric, noisy, shabbyPosted Jul 7, 2014
Huge screen covers an entire side of building, tawdry decor,, smelly lounge chairs crammed haphazardly in once beautiful courtyard, continous, loud, raucous music from a seedy dance hall attached to the hotel building, no.parking facilities and general decline of what apparently was once a beautiful and historical hotel was depressing. Staff repeatedly did not pass on phone messages, and there is a state of general disrepair. The cleaning staff was very efficient and honest, and the building deserves a complete and respectful restauration as a historic building. Good WiFi.

Downtown guadalajarPosted Jun 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel was the first hotel in downtown so it has that old feeling to it so everything is old looking. The location is prefect for people who like to stay up late because it's a noisy area. But one thing we didn't Catch on the details of the hotel was there isn't any AC .

A best stay!!Posted May 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
I had a great time. Although, this was my first time visiting Guadalajara, I had the best time ever. Not only walking downtown in the Centro, but I had the best experience at Hotel Frances. Everyone there was very nice and the hospitaliitiy was incredible. My boyfriend and I had the best room which was VERY quiet and they treated us like royalty!!! When ever I return to Guadalajara , Hotel Frances will be the hotel that I will be staying at - ALWAYS!!! I have to say, the Hotel Frances is in the BEST location and has GREAT prices!!!

Room was clean, but everything was old and rusty. The beds were hard. The best thing about the hotel was definetely the location.

Great location, historical building.Posted Mar 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
An old-fashioned hotel in a historical building, close to every attraction of the Centro Histórico of Guadalajara. Not a luxury hotel, but a good price for the convenience.

Amazing locationPosted Mar 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
Our stay was very comfortable. The antique elevator is a "must see" for travelers. The disappointments were that pictures provided are not current and that the bottom floor houses two bars whose loud music makes it difficult to sleep at night. The service was excellent, but the mattresses are thin and hard.

reat Old Hotel in The Heart of GuadalajaraPosted Mar 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
Enjoyed the Hotel Frances. In the best location in Centro. It has been open since 1600's so it's old - but it's a special place. The "noise" that people talk about from bands is only on Friday's and is the sounds of people and music which is what Guadalajara is all about. We stayed in one of the penthouses and enjoyed the view from the roof - amazing. If you want an authentic experience in the heart of the city - it's the place. Make sure you go to La Fuente Cantina just 2 blocks away during your stay.
