Comfortable colonial hotel in historical center

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Staff, location, value-for-money
Cons: Breakfast Buffet and maintenance of the gym.
Location: Most sight-seeing points are very nearby.
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, not like big international chains.

Nice hotel close to everything in downtown.

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Cons: Each room should have at least two wish cloths, not one.
No need for a taxi to many places nearby including San Juan De Dios. I was very happy with the hotel

Nice convenient hotel, excellent value

Posted Aug 25, 2014
The place is a bargain for what you get, nice large rooms, beautiful interior and lobby, very convenient, close to good restaurants and the main squares. Nice rooftop patio and the pool looked nice enough but never used it. Friendly staff and a very friendly and helpful concierge, restaurant is ok for breakfast but for other meals I would recommend walking a block or two. Free parking garage with valet service. Only possible complaint would be some noise from the street but that's about it. Will be staying there again on my next trip to GDL.

Nice hotel downtown with authentic feel

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Nice hotel, central location, 5 minutes walking distance from central plaza. Rooms are ok, but pretty old fashioned; inside court rooms don't have windows which makes them dark and stuffy. If you want natural day light, ask for a room with window. Bathrooms are ok, towels are folded into pretty swans, shower is basic but functional. Electric outlets are not placed in strategic positions and are few, internet access doesn't work, so don't expect that you can work in the room. Restaurant is nice, the Sopa Azteca is delicious. Like in many hotels in Mexico, paying with credit card doesn't always work, so always have enough cash. In this hotel, they accept Visa.

Beautiful Hotel, Perfect Location.

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Colonial architecture is impressive. Best part is the concierge, Manuel Mejia. I usually don't interact much with concierges but I'm glad I did.
Cons: Entire staff at the hotel was amazing minus one female front desk clerk. Rude, hung up on me when I called front desk to ask for a fan for the room.
Location: Central location. Very convenient for visiting the main sites or to navigate to anywhere you'd like to visit.
The hotel is lovely. The colonial architecture is beautiful, the room was large. Everything was very clean and everything seemed to be well maintained at the hotel. By far the best part is the concierge, Manuel Mejia. I usually don't interact much with concierges because they tend to give touristy recommendations whereas I prefer to do how the locals do. But not Manuel. He was super helpful and always made sure I was taken care of. He never rushed me, and always answered my 101 questions. Two nights before my departure, I got really ill. Manuel ran to the pharmacy to purchase meds for me and checked with me to make sure I was recovering.

Beautiful Colonial Style/Great Location/Great Serv

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, staff friendliness.
Location: The hotel is in a great central location close to the central parks, museums, theaters, churches, libraries and important avenues. Carriage rides.
The hotel is in a great central location close to the central parks, museums, theaters, churches, libraries and important avenues. Everything is at walking distance, should you choose to walk. The hotel is a beautiful colonial hotel that is well kept: The walls and hallways were well painted, the doors were varnished, the corridors had beautiful chairs were you could sit, relax and enjoy the music. There is a pianist that plays every morning, so that you can enjoy your breakfast. The pianist played beautifully and his music traveled to the 3rd floor; the acoustics were great. The customer service was excellent. Everyone from the concierge, to the restaurant staff, to customer service were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant food was great. I am a vegetarian and the restaurant was willing to prepare different dishes for me. The rooms were spacious and very clean.

Pleasant experience. Staff was nice, room was clean, building is pretty. Room was a bit oldish and needs a liftover. Bed could have been more comfortable.
