Close to the main squarePosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: The ambiance and the many courtyards within the hotel. It was quiet as well with our room overlooking a courtyard we never heard any traffic noise.
Cons: The restaurant could be a little better but there are so many restaurants to chose from in the area.
Location: We were a five minute walk to the main squares which are full of so much history. There are many lovely restaurants and a couple of department stores.
My husband and i spent 4 nights at this hotel. We loved the ambiance and charm of the hotel. The room was exceptionally clean and we could open the window or use the airconditioning. The staff were very helpful and waking up to the sound of the canaries singing in the morning was wonderful.over all we were quite pleased with the hotel.

Creepy LocationPosted Jan 15, 2014
I would not stay any more at this hotel. The intalations are old, covers for the bed looks dirty ,shower towels are old and also looks dirty. You have to walk about 2 blocks to the parking for the hotel. Front desk people are rude when you ask for something

the second room we got was bigger, and slightly better. furnishings were meager, hot water was spotty. staff was loud early in the morning. good location, and the staff was helpful and earnest.

Pros: Interior courtyards are beautiful. The staff are tremendous.
Cons: For the price I would say this is good deal. Maybe better mattresses. And Wifi in the rooms would be nice too.
First time in Guadalajara. Hotel San Francisco is in a great location right in the historical district, two blocks from the busses and five minutes walk from San Juan de Dios and Liberty markets. The hotel itself is very old and basic in the traditional Mexican style with the rooms built around a series of courtyards. Each courtyard has sitting areas and a fountain. The rooms are basic, don't expect pillow top mattresses here. The rooms and the bed linens were clean, there was lots of hot water and the water pressure was good. One night we returned to the room and the electricity was out but the manager sorted the problem immediately. There is a small restaurant. We had the Breakfast buffet for aprox $6 cdn. The buffet had a great selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt cottage cheese, muesli. The hot dishes which were plentiful were mainly traditional Mexican dishes. The hotel definitely caters to North American tastes and included in the buffet was made to order omelettes pancakes etc. The staff are quite simply amazingly friendly and hard working. There was always someone on the front desk who spoke fluent English as well as the restaurant host. The front desk staff advised us on locations, events, bus routes etc. The staff at this hotel provide service above and beyond. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget and can accept basic facilities. Not sure if I will stay there again myself.

I had a beautiful room with balcony and a big bed.. friendly staff (Thanks to Yosimar and the lady from the breakfast buffet that made me feel like home) I thought I was at my grandma's house for a moment :) ) If you want to feel that you're staying in old Mexico come to this hotel.. I had a great experience there

charming colonial looking Mexicana HotelPosted Nov 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Lovely charming, colonial looking Mexican hotel. Fountains in the middle of courtyards some rooms with balconies. Staff very friendly, buffet served in one of the courtyard with typical Mexican food. hotel off main street so it's quite and only a few minutes to historic downtown area. Not a lot of amenities other then free wi fi but do you expect for a 3 star hotel. Would stay there again

Good basic hotel, close to center, affordablePosted Nov 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel stff was nice and helpful. The food was really good and inexpensive. The location is wonderful- just a short walk to the cathedral and main plazas. Our room was big with a king size bed and breakfast table with two chairs.. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay but the rooms need updated. The bathtub was worn and you could tell if the acrylic was coming off or if it was just dirty, so we bought flip flop to wear in the shower. The decorations were out of date and the tv was an old model. They also didn't have some basic things that you would come to expect like a hair dryer, iron and board, and a safe. We paid a low rate of $31 per night so maybe we got a room that didn't have as much as the others. But all in all it was a good stay.
