“Great airport hotel for Pointe-a-Pitre”

Canella Beach in Le Gosier is a super place to stay when you first get to Guadeloupe and you're trying to get your bearings. It's about a 35 dollar cab ride from the airport, and all the taxi drivers know its location. Rooms have balconies with refrigerators and small kitchens. Breakfast is included and is fantastic - fresh fruit, coffees, juices, eggs, cheese, croissant, cereals - you name it. Canella Beach has its own lovely beach, a large pool, and a jacuzzi. It's within walking distance of a large casino, several rental car places (but be aware they're only open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.), a small grocery store, and a great local cafe. I'd also recommend it for an extended stay to those who are looking for sun and staying put. Most of the reception people speak English, which is helpful for those who don't speak French. The staff were very nice. We stayed at Canella on our last night in Guadeloupe as well, since we had early flight. Our room rate was cheaper when booked directly at the reception than when booked through Expedia. There are plenty of ATM's around the hotel - so be sure to pay in Euros not credit card to avoid exchange fees.

“good hotel studio to stay”

It`s a good hotel - studio to stay for a 3 stars the service is good... People are very nice you have everithing you need to cook, have breakfeast and dinner A very nice private beach with nice coconut trees The restaurant is well placed also near the beach I just regret that ther was not enough animation on the site... Hopefully i knew the island and there is so many things to do in guadeloupe than in cuba or domenican republic that you should absolutely come to this french caribean paradise...ideal for families couples and singles

“Bugs”

The hotel was fine although it had a lot of mosquitoes that came out in the morning and evening. I'd recomend to setup a screen in the terrace. The beach is beautiful and the ocean is warm and cristal clear.

“The people at the hotel were very nice, and accommodating”

The hotel is old, and needs updating, but otherwise clean. The beach is certainly not great either. So much sea weed, that the water wasn't clear. The hotel is located near a swamp, and depending on the wind, the odor is putrid. It can get very expensive for Americans, as Guadeloupe only accepts Euro's. The 10 minute cab ride to the hotel, from the airport was #45.00. A bottle of water was $9.00. These are just a few examples. I will not return to the Island....There are so many in the Caribbean that are much prettier, and less expensive. If you are French, or European, it would be fine. You need to speak French to get anywhere in Guadeloupe. Very few people speak some English. I must say, everyone I met, was very friendly.

“Very, very basic”

This Hotel in need of repairs and upgrading. The Airconditioners leaked and kept one up all night. Basically comfortable and clean, nothing to get excited about at all. No microwave, rusty burners in kitchens located outside on the porch where birds and other insects etc. joined you to eat, & helped themselves while you were out from the doorless section of the cabinet.

“Avoid Canella Beach Hotel.”

The hotel is located near the Fort D'Epee and a large shallow bay on the ocean, but there is a swamp area that had a mild odor and the trash bins aqt the street entrance created a poor welcome experience. Our small group got used to saying, Turn Left at the garbage bins. We were generally disappointed with the food at our hotel and were glad to find Mamma's near the road to Fort D'Epee as a place for unusually good pizza and drinks. We did not care for local whole fish dishes or bbq chicken as it was par-boiled and then grilled without much taste.
