“Great place - wish I stayed longer”

Only stayed one night but it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Room was large, nice bed and decent size bathroom. Hotel location was easy to find in the dark (as I arrived after sunset). Hotel is close to the beach (500m) and short drive to Deshaies. Late check out offered at 12pm was not utilised but could have stayed a while by the pool. Free internet for guests available. The two people on reception spoke fluent English and French. The man at reception when I arrived was very helpful and offered tips on places to eat and things to see.

“As Advertised”

We had room 22 for 5 nites. Great view of the sea from our patio/kitchen. Unique arrangement having the kitchen on the patio - we enjoyed the meals we prepared there at sunset as well as our morning coffee. Room air condonditiong was great to cool off from the humidity. Pool was good. Resturant was clsoed but they did have a generous breakfast each morning in the dining area overlooking the pool. Grand Anse beach is just across the road from the hotel property. Although they advertise satelite TV, but forwarned they mean satelite FRENCH TV....no english language channel.

“Loved it”

We stayed for 1 week during March of 2010. Although we did not speak French, the hotel staff was able to work with us and provide for a delightful trip. The beach is walking distance, as was access to at least rudimentary groceries. Renting a car is highly recommended to experience the island and get into town. It took about 2 days for a car to be available for us, and the taxi from the airport costs about 80 euro - so it would be best to arrange for a car prior to arrival. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and a fabulous place to stay. We highly recommend HGA to interested travelers, and would gladly stay there again.

“Very Nice Hotel”

Beautiful grounds, nice restaurant, nice pool and an English speaking staff. The rooms are a bit spartan and the TV stations are only in French. But, those were minor issues. I'd certainly recommend this place.

“Beautiful small holiday”

Breakfast was okay - we wanted more fresh fruit. Beautiful location if you get a unit up the hillside. The adjacent beach is very nice. An easy hour drive from airport.

“Very charming hotel/residence”

This is a very charming, pretty , cozy and quite hotel and residence. It is located on a hill just 200-300 meters from the beach "Grande Anse" (one of the priettiest in Guadaloupe" sorrounded with a breathtaking vegetation and with a lovely pool. It is located very near )about 1 kilometer)to the little but picturesque town of "Deshaies" (pronounced: days). It is very clean and pretty, and the staff was very helpful and nice. The buffett breakfast (for 10 euros per person) was really excellent, and the restaurant was closed for dinner until October, 28th /2006 because we went in the low season. It was a very relaxing and nice hotel with all the comfort and good service of a three star property. We were very happy there.

“Nice hotel great location”

We stayed in three hotels in Guadeloupe and this was the best. The room was not fancy but very clean and comfortable and had all the facillities needed for self catering. The location was fabulous with a lovely beach just a short walk away and a very well kept swimming pool on the premises. Set on a hillside amongst nice gardens with easy access to transport made for a very pleasent stay. The staff were all welcoming, helpful and attentive. The food at the restaurant was very good as was the buffet breakfast but the bar was not open during the day. This was not too much of a problem as there was a general store that sold take away alcohol and several bars within 5 minutes walk. I would definitely stay there again and would recomend it to others.

“Beautiful gardens of Habitation Grande Anse”

We just returned from our stay at the Habitation Grande Anse on Guadaloupe. We were only there for 3 nights but we very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is across the street from Grande Anse beach which was absolutely beautiful and almost deserted when we were there. It was about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The rooms of the hotel are situated on a fairly steep hillside and the grounds are absolutely beautiful gardens. The rooms with the best views are higher up on the hill which means more walking to get to your room but for us it was worth the walk. Every room has their own porch area with table and chairs and our kitchen was also on the porch which we greatly enjoyed.There was a small grocery store near the hotel and a couple of more grocery stores in Deshais which was about a 10 minute drive away. We also enjoyed the hotel pool for a nice refreshing dip each evening. Our room was pretty basic. Nothing fancy and a bit dark. The bathroom was okay but the shower is extremely small. I am not a very big person and I barely fit. Everything was very clean. The staff at the front desk of the hotel was very nice and spoke English quite well but we found very few other people who spoke English on Guadaloupe. Knowing French would definitely be a good idea.We also rented a car which I highly recommend. Driving on Guadaloupe was easy. The roads are good and the signage was wonderful. All in all we had a wonderful stay and the hotel was beautiful and relaxing.

Very accommodating and even though our French was limited that wasnt a problem. Rooms small but adeqate.
