“Very Disappoined, not a three star”
I booked this hotel based on Expedia's "three star" ranking. I've never been disappointed with a three star hotel before and figured it wouldn't be too bad,
however the Tumon Bay Capital hotel is not a three star.
While it certainly has some of that old-world charm that makes small independent hotels unique and interesting, it is in desperate need of a facelift and a good cleaning. It has the feel of a seedy motel that you'd find along an interstate highway in Indiana, not a budget hotel on an beautiful island in the Pacific.
The rooms are in need of a face lift. I'm fine with older fixtures and hardware; but I'm not fine with mold, mildew, peeling paint, cracked walls, and peeling wall paper. I understand on Guam it can be tough to keep things immaculate due to the humidity and temperature, however the other hotels on the island seem to have things under control. A thorough cleaning of the common areas and some fresh paint, preferably a color other than pale pink, would do wonders for this hotel and make it a nice place.
The location is nice, the views from the room are nice, and the staff is very friendly; all that's left is for the owners to make a minor investment in some cleanup/refresh work and this place wouldn't be too bad.
