“staff was outgoing and very helpful”
Food was good could have had more spices. Staff was extremely friendly and out going. Give them AAA+++
“Great Somewhat All Inclusive Getaway!”
The hotel was great. I would only sugguest they develop a free of charge welcome shuttle to the local Liberia airport as that would really make it an All Inclusive!
“After seeing the reviews I expected this hotel to be horrible- Not True!”
The staff was overly nice. I was prepared to eat the worst food, so I packed some stuff just incase, but never had to whip it out once...lol. In the restaurant there is Costa Rican food, and also other American food. (Buffet style) In the evenings you are able to go to either the buffet or reserve at the Italian or Mexican restaurant. It is true that some of the buildings were far away from the restaurant & pool, but it was only a five min walk from our building and there's always a bus that goes to each bldg. The better bldgs were 5 & 6 (I called for recommendations prior to my vac) I stayed in building 6 and was still able to get wireless connection on my laptop. (You are only suppose to be able to pick up the wireless signals around the pool, lobby & restaurant areas) Wireless costs $25 for your total stay. It was worth it for me as I used skype a lot. I was not able to pick up a wireless connection from my iphone in the room, but I could from the restaurant, lobby & pool area. Do not buy a transfer for airport rides to & from the hotel prior to trip. Catch a cab! There are plenty of cab drivers waiting outside the hotel. I believe the transfers would have been $150 per person for a round trip transfer. When I called the hotel, (prior to the trip) they told me that the cab fare was $40 in total each way. So off the bat I saved $220. The cab driver tried to charge me $55 at the airport, but I talked him down.
“Forget Mexico, try Costa Rica”
After traveling to many resort cities in Mexico, I have found a new vacation destination. The Allegro Papagayo in Costa Rica. It was much more than expected. The service was excellent, the staff were always very helpful and courteous. The food was great as were the drinks. Allegro Papagayo had the best of both worlds the beach and the jungle. While watching the quetzal birds near the beach you can turn around and see the monkeys in the jungle. Allegro Papagayo has theme dinners every night which were excellent and after dinner the activities department put on a show for kids at 8:30pm and adults at 9:30pm and again these were great. Allegro Papagayo also has a private beach club which is free to all hotel guest. Word of warning you must make reservations for this private beach because only 70 people a day are allowed to enjoy it. I highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to go back
“Fun”
We spent 9 days and 8 nights. The staff was awesome and went out of their way to make our stay good. It was very clean. I must say the food was not as good as we had hoped it would be but we never left the dining room hungry. I will say pack your walking shoes and be ready to take on some big hills around the complex. They do have a shuttle service that runs every 10 mins. approx.
“A wonderful time at Allegro Papagayo”
My husband and I stayed at the Allergo the week of Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. We wanted a week worth of relaxation, and that is exactly what we got. The hotel staff is amazing, very nice and helpful. The resort itself is clean and well maintained. The rooms are nice but nothing extravagant. The resort is tucked into a hillside with a great view of the bay and mountains. The beach is nice, but black sand. If you want a white sand beach the resort offers a "Beach club" which is about a 15 minute boat ride away. The pool is wonderful, very large with plenty of chairs. A nice treat, waiters walk around thru out the day passing out fresh fruit to guest as they relax by the pool. The food is good, not gourmet but average for an all inclusive resort. There is not much nightlife at the resort, but Coco Beach is about a 20 minute drive away if you are looking for a place to go out. A great plus to the resort, any tours you want to go on in while in Costa Rica can be booked thru the hotel tour office, which is very helpful and has all types of tours at reasonable prices. I highly recommend Arenal Volcano!! I would recommend the Allegro to any type of person who wants a nice relaxing resort where you can do nothing but lay by the pool/beach or experience all Costa Rica has to offer.
“Great Vacation”
The Hotel was nice. The buffet and Italian resturants were good, a big varity off foods and alot of fruit and deserts and all the drinks you can drink!. The hills at this resort are very steep. We stayed in building 2 which was at the very top of the hill, it had great views but alot of walking to get to the pool, resturants and beach. The pool is very nice. This is a wonderful place to stay with if you are traveling with kids. The Hotel put on shows in the evening, we caught one and it was fun, they did a disney medley then pop singers and rock star skits lipsinging to songs in a likeness costume to the star. The only think the hotel might inprove on it, free shuttles into town every couple hours, otherwise it costs 40.00 each way for a taxi. If you dont go on a tour you are hotel bound, town is too far to walk to(30 mins away). Also, in the middle of the night if you want a soda you are out of luck. They could have a soda machine that dispenses soda by the cup. Other than that I thought everything was fine, you might not want a hamburger, it does not taste like an American hamburger. The staff tries its best to speak English and I feel they do a great job! You are greeted everynight at dinner with a drink and shown to your table.
“Beautiful Resort”
Our stay at the Allegro was outstanding. The heat was almost unbearable but we were made very comfortable. The pool was awesome, the drinks were awesome, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and fun. We would go back in a second!!!!!
“Friendly staff, good food, great facilities with killer views”
The hotel staff was friendly and genuinely interested in making us comfortable and happy. The pool was almost always at a good temperature, so it wasn't a shock to get in. The jacuzzi wasn't very hot, though. Great nightly shows for children and for adults. The drinks at some of the bars were a little weak. We had the best drinks at El Mirador, the bar in the lobby. Not sure why they're better, but they are. The view from the lobby is also magnificent, great picture spot. There was so much variety in food-there was Costa Rican style food and American food as well. You don't get bored and you can usually find something you like. Snack bar is open until late also (french fries, chicken strips, pizza, etc) The room was comfortable, clean, and smelled great. Well kept facilities. I would recommend staying here for a weekend like we did because there isn't nightlife or a nearby town. This place is for the pool, beach, lounging, nightly shows and drinking. There's so much to see in other parts of Costa Rica, so stay in San Jose for a bit, too!
“had a very good time will go back soon”
the resort is a good location for people that love the country.you are away from every thing exept the rain forest and the bay. the white face monkeys would come down to the trees by the beach at around 0730 and you could feed them by hand.
