Great Villas at Ocotal

Posted May 7, 2014
Pros: Everything
Great Villas at Ocotal Beach/ If you are driving is a plus/ we were driving and there wasn't a problem to find the place with GPS, it's a bit complicated if you are driving from el coco to the villas with a map. The place is great, we were a family of 6 and the Villas has everything you need. View is great, quiet, private beach, Picante restaurant has fresh fish every day. super friendly staff, always willing to assist, they are able to arrange tours, if you like fishing or snorkeling this is the place. Nearest town is el Coco, approx. 10-15 minutes driving, can find supermarkets, restaurant, tours.

Beautiful location!

Cons: Recommend the resort have items to buy for the villa such as snacks, beer, first aid etc. as the closest store is a $10 taxi ride one way.
Location: Do NOT go to Coconutz in town. It was horrible and the waitress said customers are always disappointed.
This was an awesome place to stay and we had a great time. The resort is located on a private beach. The 3 bedroom villa was nice and had a nice view of the ocean. The restaurant was very good and the staff were great! The hotel management was very helpful with assisting us with adventure tours. Just make sure to bargain with them on the price of the tours. Would recommend that you stop in Liberia on the way to the resort for groceries as it has a very nice grocery store.

Quiet and relaxing location

Posted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: This is a great place to stay for families or large groups. The villas are equiped with everything you need including washer and dryers.
Location: The beach is great for swimming and snorkeling. Playa del Coco is close by for shopping and places to eat. The hotel books many great tours.
We loved the quiet and relaxing location after spending a week in busy touristy Tamarindo. We saw howler monkeys right outside our villa and in town while shopping. Our first villa was high up on a hill and had fantastic views but we didn't have a car so we moved to a villa that was lower and closer to the beach and pools. We had to cab it into town which cost ten dollars one way. I would rent a car next time if I stayed here again because nothing is within walking distance if you want to go into town to eat and shop. We went fishing which was fantastic we saw sea turtles, dolphins and whales! We also booked a trip to Nicaragua and saw an active volcano which was great!

Pleasantly Surprised

Pros: Room for the family, three bathrooms, privacy.
Location: We did fishing and the mega tour through the hotel and were very pleased with both.
We were thrilled with the accommodations. With a family of 5 we had plenty of room, the kitchen was loaded with all of the appliances we needed and more. The place was clean and comfortable. It was actually better than the pictures.

Nice condo resort

Posted Jul 7, 2013
Pros: Clean, efficient, nice pool, convenient restaurant, friendly staff
Our family of 5 plus a friend of our 18 yo stayed for a week. Condo was nice. Pool and view were very nice. Picante restaurant on site was also a good choice for meals. Staff was very friendly and helpful with all our questions. Found the drive to go surfing to be a bit far--1 1/4-1 1/2 hours each way. Would probably stay in Tamarindo next time where surfing is just outside your door.

Must stat here in CR!

Pros: amenities friendly staff convenience private beach pool
Location: The Congo Canopy Tours is a MUST! Organize a trip to go snorkeling - the ocean is beautiful and WARM!
I stayed in Villa #27 with my 2 children (in their 20s) and it was more than an enjoyable stay. The villa had beautiful ocean views from the private patio in the back, as well as the private terrace upstairs! The villa had 3 spacious bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, more than adequate AC, a TV with a DVD player, an enormous kitchen with all appliances we could possibly need, and even a clothes washer and dryer! The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, helping us organize outings - like zip-lining at The Congo Trail Canopy Tours, which was AMAZING - and giving great directions to other beaches. The pool was amazing as well, very clean and warm, and the private black-sand beach was warm and soft under our feet! Our stay was during the rainy season, but it only rained once a day, or so, and for only about an hour. The only slight downside (for my kids, at least) was that the wifi wasn't reliable from where we were. We plan on returning (at least) once a year, and maybe next time, though we did love our villa, we will try to stay in one with a private pool as well, for a convenient late-night, or early-morning dip in the pool! Some tips: -if you're renting a car, a GPS is a MUST! Seriously. -invest in bug spray, but get use to itching bug bites -stop at the grocery store on your way there (there are at least 3 on the way) and get food/toiletries/etc. for your whole trip, it will be more convenient not to have to return to the store multiple times and ENJOY YOURSELF!!!

Great Place & Great Location

This was not a hotel. It was a 3 bedroom villa that had it's own beach, pool and resturant. The views from the villas high on the cliff were amazing, especially the sunsets.
