Barcelo Langosta beach... the Un-inclusive

Pros: Claudio and Ronnie were the best employees of this resort, Their friendly smiles and helpful attitude helped make it a more relaxing experience.
Cons: The "all inclusive" needs an overhaul. Advertising that its more of a local family destination would also help. We felt a little out of place here.
Location: Massage at Cocos, dinner at Patagonia and dancing at aqua but by far the best was sailing on the Antares sailing adventure! we will never forget it!
My wife and I spent the last leg of a perfect honey moon in this un-impressive resort. Upon arriving, we were met with 3 bell boys that just stood by and watched my wife and I carry our luggage from the shuttle into the crowded lobby. Walking up, I spotted several palm leaves to the side of the driveway with standing water in them, which made me weary about mosquitoes. We waited in a long line to check in(about 30 minutes) while screaming kids ran around unsupervised throughout the lobby. The concierge told us our room wouldn't be ready for awhile so we hit the buffet while we waited...in my opinion it was like a ran down sizzler that had been sitting in the heat all day. Then we decided to grab a drink and hit the beach. This was the only nice part about the resort. Once our room was ready, we went up to check it out and OMG! This couldn't be the "superior room" we booked, it looked like someone had thrown one too many parties in it, Everything was broken,the TV was crooked, the lights dangled next to the bedside, and a closet so small I had to kneel down to gain access. No mini bar, and room service isn't included in the "all inclusive". After a few complaints they moved us upstairs to a room that was more like a "superior room". We have stayed at hotels around the world some all inclusive and some not, but this was by far the worst! Upon check out just as I suspected, my wife covered in mosquito bites, and the standing water still in the same palms from three days prior.

Cons: Restaurant needs more variety
We had to wait 2 hours before getting our key. Snack bar always out of food. Overpriced for being an ALL-INCLUSIVE hotel !

Extremely nice staff

We spent 6 days at the resort and felt welcomed right away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of activities and the night shows were fun. Conveniently located 5 minutes from the Tamarindo beach with all the shops and restaurants, I will definitely go back.

Very nice and clean area, on the beach

Pros: The beach was decent for surf and better than tamarindo, the river was really cool. pool was nice
Cons: The pool could be open later, and two nights of 9 our rooms werent made
Location: Beachfront and tamarindo beach is a $5 cab ride. We went out to eat there a few nights and went shopping and stuff.Theres also a pretty cool sportsba
Food was great the first few days and then just got repetitive after 4 or 5 days. The table service was nice and was buffet style with a grill and a salad bar. If you are just going to eat, than you may not be happy. They give you free vouchers for a sit down meal on the house in the a la carte restaurant for every 3 nights you stay so that was great. Nice beach and really cool river to wander around and swim in. Overall very enjoyable.

Great place to stay!

Just returned from Costa Rica, where our last stay was at Barcelo Langosta Beach. The staff was friendly and helpful, setting was beautiful, food was great, especially considering it was all inclusive. One negative is that they no longer have a casino, which for us was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. I would, however, still recommend it!

Nice, relaxing hotel with surf, sunshine, & tours.

Pros: The staff was outstanding: friendly, genuine, and helpful.
Cons: A few more group activities would be nice to get guests meeting each other and longer staying guests not getting bored easily.
Location: Surfing, swimming, and many nearby tours. 20-30 minute walk to Tamarindo (surf lessons, souvenirs, food), 5 minute taxi.
My fiance and I stayed for 8 nights in a regular room. We booked a round-trip airport shuttle for a great price through Expedia, so did not have to rent a car. The ride is ~1 hour, but depends on traffic. All Barcelo Langosta staff was stellar throughout our trip, being friendly, genuine, and helpful. The grounds are well maintained and the included services set you up nicely to just relax and enjoy yourself. Initial impressions: Great - Staff really aided in making the stay more enjoyable. Plenty of chairs by the pool and by the beach with incredible waves for beginners and advanced water sports. Lots of tours and rentals within the grounds or in Tamarindo, we did the ATV + zipline beach tour through Flamingo Adventures and it was great. Surf lessons by Iguana surf are good, and transportation is included tours. Final impressions: Good - By the end, the activities and music became repetitive. The food was good, but I did get sick from something in combination with the sun. The room and cleaning service was very good, AC was very nice and they stock the fridge in your room with water and some pops every day. It was a good stay, but plan on doing enough tours if you're staying longer to avoid getting bored.

Pros: The pool was nice that is about it!
Cons: Quality of the food!
The pool area was nice and the ground were well kept. Room was just fine. The food was very disappointing and couldn't compare to the quality of the Rui Palace which we stay at last year. Couldn't really recommend the property.

Nice hotel, great beach and great staff

Pros: All employees were extremely friendly. The hotel was clean, the grounds were beautiful and the beach was great.
Cons: Everything was great!!
Location: It's an easy walk to Tamarindo. Lots of shops and restaurants.You can go on tours for ziplining, horseback riding and whitewater tubing on a river.
Upon check in, we were being placed in building 4 and requested that we not be in that building since other reviews said it was too loud because it was close to the disco. There were 8 of us in 4 rooms. The front desk staff, Moises and Jose, were very accommodating and switched us and were able to have our rooms side by side. It took a little time, however we were very comfortable waiting in the lobby bar with a nice beverage! Jose, the doorman, took care of our luggage while we waited and explained everything about our rooms when he escorted us to them. He was very helpful in providing information about places to eat and where to shop in Tamarindo. All the employees at the hotel were extremely nice! The buffet was very good. There was a good variety as well as the standard dishes. We ate at the A La Carte Restaurant one evening and it was excellent! The rooms at the Barcelo Langosta were very comfortable and clean. We were lucky enough to be by the area where the howler monkeys hung out and enjoyed watching them climb around in the trees. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Costa Rica. You will be well taken care of and will have a wonderful time!!

Good Value & Service.

Like most all-inclusive resorts the food gets routine, but an upscale small restuarant is available on site for more variety. Service throughout the hotel was very good with daily maid service and unlimited bottled water and soda. The hotel is on the beach which is gorgeous, but you have to walk 75-150 feet (depending on the tide level) through a strong current stream to reach the best walking beach ever! Security is very good to prevent beach peddlars and locals from entering the hotel area. A cab is only $5 to town, but be aware the roads and sidewalks are very poor. Best months to visit Costa Rica is December and January which are the transition months from the wet to dry season. Also, there is an export tax of $29/person to leave the country which I hope the government uses to improve the infrastructure. The wildlife and plants/flowers are wonderful.
