“up in the mountains”

Great location in the mountains. However it is far from everything. We rented a car. You DO NOT need four wheel drive. The main roads in this part of Costa Rica are paved. But that is all. The rest are gravel, and not good gravel. But its a rental car so tough. The hotel is very attractive comfortable and friendly. Caution though, the rooms are bungalow style up a hill, they will take you to your room anytime you want in a vehicle. We chose to walk. I should say climb cause it is steep. You are pretty much regulated to eating in the on site location, not bad but not superb. Not too overpriced at all. The optional tours are way overpriced, we had the car we did it all ourselves. Rent a car with a GPS, it served us well. all the roads are on it and it was easy to drive. Bumpy yes but we had fun laughing about it

“Nirvana”

We enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful Setting once you travel the roads. Most of staff was welcoming but some seemed annoyed...maybe they were having a bad day? Our stay was short. But I would return....absolutely beautiful!

“Excellent Customer Service!”

The Borinquen Hotel is an absolute must if you are in Costa Rica for a week or even a day. The pictures on the website do not do this resort justice. It is an absolutely gorgeous area, tamed, but still with giant lizards, cows, and monkeys right next door! The level of customer service would rival any 5-star hotel. The attention to detail that is provided by the staff in every facet truly makes Borinquen unique. Plus, they are all more than happy to teach you a few phrases in Spanish! My husband and I will most definitely be going back!

“Costa Rica's best resort!”

The most relaxing vacation! Everything that we wanted to do in Costa Rica was available through the resort. The location is breathtaking! The service was amazing! I would stay here again! The only thing is, there is no night life and there is nothing to do after 8pm.

“Hidden gem in the wilderness”

A first-class all-inclusive resort tucked within a completely natural surrounding costa rican jungle. It was hard to get to (steep dirt and gravel roads), but well worth it. The staff was outstanding, the grounds were impeccable, the cabins were beautiful inside and out. They have all the usual amenities on their grounds (hot springs, sauna, pool, swim-up bar, hiking, horseback riding, various other excursions) and are surrounded by a gorgeous natural wilderness. We were there only two days, so can't comment on everything, but the ziplining was first-rate... double cable, good equipment and professional guides. Incredible scenery over the tops of the canopy, waterfall, etc. Saw monkeys in the trees while ziplining and from the deck of our cabin. The staff was attentive at all times. I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel I've been this impressed with.

“Pura Vida”

We spent 4 days at the resort and had a wonderful time. When looking to book our first trip to Costa Rica we wanted to be in a rain forest setting away from it all. What a treat! The grounds were amazing. The natural steam room, mud, and hot bath experience was topped off with a couple's massage that was tranquil & relaxing and we didn't want it to end! The ATV waterfall tour and the Ricon de la Vieja - Las Pailas Trail tour were both great. Our guides were both excellent. Thank you Francisco and Alex. The food was hit or miss, but the staff made up for it. They were all exceptional. They worked with us on our Spanish and we had great fun. Thanks to all of them, and especially Noe' who took care of us most of the time. You could tell all of the employees loved their jobs, and talked highly of Mario (the owner). On our last morning we had the pleasure of meeting Mario and telling him how great his employees were, and what a truly great experience we had at his resort. After meeting him we could see why his employees thought so highly of him. He thanked us several times for picking the Borinquen, and our kind words. We would definitely pick the Borinquen to stay at again and would recommend it highly.

Stunning prpoerty, a real get away, amazing activities and very friendly staff. We're definitely going back! PS We are discriminating hotel/vacation goers - we were really impressed. ATV through the forest, excellent ziplining and free mudbath saunas!
