“!Next year vacacion!”
we love it, The staff was very professional.
“the getaway”
The place was beautifl! The staff was so cordial, friendly and fun. I loved that they had an activity board to keep you occupied througout the day. The food was very good at all their resaurants. The room was cozy and comfy. Just make sure to keep your door closed so bugs and raccoons don't enter. Being bitten by little bugs you didn't even know were biting you would be the worst! It's recommended to use Avon SkinSoSoft. OFF doesn't work! Also, it was read that many people mentioned being stung by jellyfish... I am one of those. So just be careful. Overall, it was beautiful and loved it! I really enjoyed my stay.
“Excellent experience”
My wife and I travel often. Our stay at the Hilton Papagayo rates very high with us. We will definately return to stay again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. 5 stars in my book!
“Awesome Vacation!!”
My Husband and I just got back from a weeklong stay at the Hilton Papagayo. We had a wonderful time. We practically had the resort to ourselves. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. The food was better than any other all inclusive resort that we have stayed at on other vacations. Our room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend upgrading to the Ocean view rooms; we definitely enjoyed the beautiful view from our balcony. There are a few minor maintenance items that could be addressed but overall manageable. Because we went during their transitional season (wet to dry) the resort was practically empty so we had no problem getting reservations for dinner, excursions (booked through Swiss Travel at the resort, excellent adventures and tour guides) or rides from the shuttles. I could see if the resort was at full capacity there may be a bit of a slowdown in service; however, I'm sure the staff would just work that much harder to accommodate everyone. I did not use the spa services mainly because I felt like it was overpriced compared to the day spa I use at home. The onsite gift shops are convenient but overpriced (M&Ms $4 US for a small bag) Have fun Helpful Hints: Take smaller bills for purchases (from vendors/outside resort) and tips. Wear Sunscreen the sun is stronger and yes you can get burned on a cloudy day. We saw a lot of burned tourist. Take bug spray If you want to spend time exploring in the Monteverde area consider splitting your trip.
“Best Vacation EVER”
I felt like Tattoo was going to appear at any moment exclaiming, "Da plane, da plane." This was fantasy island complete with the trams that drive you from place to place. The rooms were great. You couldn't get one with a bad view. We had a breathtaking view and were very close to the main grounds. The bed was the Hilton Suite Dreams Mattress with a soft comforter. It was heaven. We tipped our maid and requested Diet cokes only in the frig. No problem. The service made us feel like royalty. Everyone was eager to please. I do suggest tipping. We stayed a week and tipped a total of about $100. Well worth it. They really appreciate it. We would tip a few dollars for a couple rounds of drinks for the 4 of us. The drinks were yummy. You can also request they make them a double. We have stayed at other all inclusive hotels that really skimped on the alcohol and quality. Not this place. I suggest the Caipirinha. The food was really good. We ate at the buffet for breakfast. Incredible french toast. Make reservations for dinner. The Italian and mediterranean restaurants were really great quality and service. The grounds were gorgeous. There was an iguana in a tree by our cottage, raccoons everywhere at night, and a adorable snookums bear checking out the beach chairs. The birds were fantastic. They really set the soundtrack for this fantasy island. Out of space here...lots more I could say. Just go. It is an incredible experience.
“Great resort!”
It was great and the staff was amazing. We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica
“Great vacation”
Great location, big property. Shuttle service available 24/7. Beach is not comparable to Jamaica's white sand but the pools and weather are perfect.
“FABULOUS!”
The bungalows are beautiful as well as the landscaping. The hotel fits the Costa Rican lifestyle and it isn't "Americanized" which was a nice change. The food was FANTASTIC as well as the entire staff and the spa is awesome! There is a lot to do during the day as the hotel arranged daily free activities from 8:30-4:00. There is only one bar open at night and it is outside and has okay music at best. The nightlife and the beach are the hotels biggest cons but overall would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Costa Rica.
“Will definitely go back!”
This is the first time we went on vacation - all inclusive- and it is the way to go! Overall, food is excellent although breakfast could have a little variance so it doesn't get boring after the third day. Dinner and service at the buffet as well as the fine dining restaurants were great. Since the all inclusive package includes the 10% gratuities, none of the servers really expected an extra tip so they are appreciative of the extra tip we give them. Our bungalow is always clean and the housekeeper in charge of our bungalow (Cristina) always leave an animal shaped towel on top of our bed - how is that for creativity and personal service! The shuttle service is fast and even if the bungalow is located on top of the hill, they will drop you off right by the steps.
“Complete Paradise”
We researched a lot of hotels before we booked this trip and we were extreamly pleased with the Hilton. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing so if you are looking for a big party place this would not be the place for you. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were very nice bungalows set throughout the property. The rooms were very clean with very comfortable beds. Each room had its own patio so you could sit outside. There was a shuttle to take you around the property but it was also very pleasant to walk along the beautiful paths. The food was very good. There were only 2 speciality restaurants but the buffet was very good. Each night the theme changed and the food was different each night. We also enjoyed eating lunch at the restaurant by the adult only pool. There they served a healthy lunch each day, with terrific fresh fruit smoothies. We were traveling with 2 children ages 4 and 7 and they really enjoyed the activities at the kids club. They had a lot of arts and crafts and fun games by the pool each day. They also had games and movies in the evening. We booked our tours with Issy tours right by the cabannas on the beach. We did the combo tour with the zipline, mud baths and horseback riding and we also did Palo Verde Park. Both tours were great and they were small groups instead of a big tour bus (like Swiss Tours through the hotel). We also booked our transfers to the airport with Diego on the beach. He had a van waiting for us right on time.
