Had a great timePosted Feb 25, 2015
Cons: Menu and service at the Peruvian restaurant. Each item on the menu was half in Spanish and half in English so hard to figure out.
Wonderful hotel, friendly staff, lots to do and decent food for all inclusive resort. My son and wife had a great time. My son especially did not want to leave. He made a lots of friends and played various beach and pool games with them. Good kids program and activity. Food was good at most of the restaurants but the Peruvian restaurant had slow service. There are two small hikes within the resort. One of them had great sunset views. Beach was good but don't expect the water to be blue like the Caribbean. We also took two 1/2 day trips with Swiss travel (located in the resort). Both trips were very well organized. Staff was friendly and the hotel shuttle within the grounds was there to pick you up in not time. Overall a great experience. We will stay here again if we come back to Costa Rica.

Honeymoon in ParadisePosted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Staff, Food, Drinks, Accomodations
Cons: If I had to name one, it would be the nightlife, but it would not deter me from booking again
Location: Location is great, but a little remote. We rented a car from the Alamo at the HOTEL. So convenient. We drove down the coast. GREAT
The staff make this hotel one of the best all-inclusives we have stayed at. From the shuttle drivers to the front desk staff, everyone was EXTREMELY friendly and welcoming. Staff were always smiling saying hello and always available to help. The drinks and food were AMAZING for an all-inclusive. We have stayed at A LOT of places and this was by far the best food and drinks. All the drinks are hand made by bartenders that seem to genuinely want to be there. They muddled mint for mojitos, cut fresh fruit for garnishes, just overall excellent drink service. Food was also great. Yes the portions of small, but once you get the hang of it, you just order a BUNCH of things. Nightlife was lacking a bit, but they did try, with live music, karaoke, etc. The bar is open late so you can make your own nightlife fun. OR as we did, get to bed a little earlier and wake up to enjoy the full day in the sun. We did a few excursions from our guy Brian on the beach. He was not affiliated with the hotel, but he was cheaper, and the excursions (jet skiing and ziplining) were very good and high quality. We rented at Car from the ALAMO at the Hotel in the lobby. It was excellent and VERY convenient. We picked up the car the night before, woke up in the morning and hit the road. We drove down the coast, such a great way to see other parts of the country. HIGHLY recommend renting a car for the day. Highly recommend this hotel.

We paid $630/day for a very small, very for average to below average ambience, and in very serious need of updating, and I mean BIG TIME. The rumor around the place is that it is being sold, and will close for a year for complete renovation, and boy, does it need it. The restaurants were OK, and they are struggling with the grounds and slipping on many things. I could have done much, much better closer to home for $630 night!!!

It didn't meet my expectations.Posted Feb 15, 2015
Cons: More staff - bartenders and waiters/waitresses. Always found that I was waiting for at least 8-12 mins for someone to take my order. Give free wi fi.
The hotel was lovely and the staff were always kind and helpful. It's what you would expect from a Hilton. However it's not what I expected from an all inclusive resort. I found the staff to be slow and somewhat inattentive at times. They would come....eventually. I didn't find there was much to do at the resort. Limited entertainment, no clubs or dancing. The beach is small and shady. You'll get more sun by the pool. The location is isolated so you are confined to the hotel unless you want to pay a pricey cab fare to another part of town. I did take a hike off the beach (go left or right on the rocks of the beach) which was fun and quiet the further you went out. Seemed you were the only person there which I enjoyed! You'll find some little patches of beach that you'll likely have all to yourself. Romantic indeed. Be sure to wear proper footwear and some drinking water with you. The sun gets fierce in the afternoon. It's rocky, uneven and slippery terrain and flip flops definitely won't do the job. Be cognizant of the tide. The path of volcanic rock you took during your hike may be completely covered by water on your way back. For snorkelers you're better off going on an excursion to see anything worthwhile. Not much to see by the hotel and when I went in the water on my hike, the ground jagged and the waves pushed me up against the rocks. And for the moments when I managed to get my snorkel on and take a looksie beneath, there was nothing to see. Not worth the trouble.

Awesome beach view bungalowPosted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: The staff, the views, the excursions, the weather. The all inclusive package!
Cons: The food at some of the restaurants.
Location: we did snorkeling, couples massage, jet skied, atv tour, mega combo zip line horse back riding spa. kayaked, trolling fishing, really great time
Had an incredible honeymoon! Pura Vida!! We did every excursion we could! Don't book excursions with the resort, book with the people on the beach offering you better deals! Super beautiful and an awesome time! The food was great at some restaurant foods were interesting at others.... I wish they had more Costa Rican food really! Go fishing, ATV tour, zip lining and couples massage!! These were our favorite things! This resort definitely seamed like the best compared to a lot of others in snake bay and way cheaper then the Four Seasons not to far.

Hotel close to beach, awesome and friendly staffPosted Feb 8, 2015
This was an excellent hotel with amazing and courteous staff. Open bar starts at 11am, beautiful weather everyday and rarely cloudy, and breathtaking views. The rooms were a little old and outdated, but they were clean and the bed was comfortable. Most of the time you're rarley in the room anyways because there are three pools and the beach. The staff were so nice, I loved them. They also have activities like Aqua Zumba and beach volleyball. The only negative comment I can make about the hotel was that the food was alright. They do have four different restaurants to choose from and the meals are played beautifully, but they looked better than they tasted. I did leave the restaurants full.

Positives: very clean. Staff was very nice. Negatives: food. Breakfast and the Peruvian resturant were above average. Everything else was too salty or undercooked. Drinks were watered down. Not a lot of plces to gang out besides two pool areas. Staff did not help with beach seating or offer drinks - you had to go to the bar itself. Rooms were small No free internet in the rooms

Room 372Posted Feb 4, 2015
We loved the view from our room; however, the sliding patio door was almost impossible to open and so was the closet door. Some of the suites had entrance doors onto the patio which would have been preferable. We killed approximately 6 ugly large spiders in our room, one was a wandering banana spider and the others were fat black circular shaped and also very ugly. We liked the fact that we were close enough to the spa and adult pool that we could walk there if we choose. Overall we enjoyed our vacation at this resort very much. The meals were great. Staff very pleasant.

Hilton Papagayo ParadisePosted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: The food available from the four restaurants was delicious, there were tons of activities, and the view of the Gulf of Papagayo was breathtaking.
Cons: A complimentary airport shuttle might be provided.
Location: It is close to the airport so transport is easy and there are several places to visit nearby such as Coco Beach, Liberia, and Arenal Volcano.
My husband and I spent three weeks at the Hilton Papagayo in Costa Rica and it was truly an outstanding vacation. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met.
