Great Staff and Location

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: The staff, the food at the restaurant, the pool & the location. The rooms were large, clean, and steps from the beach.
Location: Location was great, beach was not crowded like it was in town. We never had a bad meal in Costa Rica. Do the Blue Dolphin Catamaran tour!!
This was our first time going to Costa Rica, and we came to Tamarindo from Arenal. We wanted to relax and do some excursions, but mostly just lay around on the beach and surf. Capitan Suizo is in an amazing location, away from the craziness of town so you can relax but close enough to walk. The grounds were beautiful and animal friendly, with 4 resident cats living there and greeting guests. Howler monkeys also hang around the trees, you are pretty much guaranteed to see them, and to definitely hear them (they are loud!!!). You will also see many, very large iguanas. We were lucky enough to see one jump in the pool, it was pretty incredible. The staff at Capitan Suizo are amazing, most particularly Juan Carlos, Max, Eddie and Katherine (there was one other woman who worked at the restaurant that was amazing too, but I didn't catch her name). They couldn't do enough for us, and we got to know them on a somewhat personal level. They even helped us learn some Spanish! The hotel was clean, but also very wildlife and eco friendly. This means you will see bugs. You are on the beach, in a somewhat remote, tropical area; bugs thrive in this environment, so you will encounter them. Also, watch out for the birds that steal your breakfast (White-throated Magpie Jays). They are beautiful, but don't leave your dish unattended. As far as excursions go, if you do nothing else make sure to do the Blue Dolphin Catamaran. One of the highlights of our trip!

right on the beach, nice staff, clean rooms

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Location: In town I got a college party town atmosphere. Definitely a tourist town. White ppl everywhere.
kinda pricy but I was willing to pay the price for being right on the beach. Beautiful beach. Beautiful landscaping, I saw iguanas and monkeys. Great customer service. Somehow they get all the sand out of the rooms when they clean them. Very clean rooms. Bed rocked and squeaked when you know... so they could upgrade on the beds quality also pillows weren't that great but that's why i always bring my own. All in all you cant beat right on the beach.

Right on the beach

Posted Jun 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
If you are a beach lover, this is the place for you. The service was excellent. Everyone was so nice. The food was great, as well as the service. Our room was beautiful, with a balcony that looked out straight out onto the ocean. Their property and landscaping is a botanical garden. Very easy to walk to town, either from the road or by the beach. Wild life is all around, from birds, monkeys & lizards. The beach is pristine. You can stay there for hours. I highly recommend Hotel Capitan Suizo, you will not be sorry. P.S. Rosa, the tour coordinator at Hotel Capitan Suizo was wonderful planning our day trips.

Monkeys everywhere!

Posted Jun 3, 2014
Cons: Only gripe is that the room did not have AC. Without it, the temperature was still comfortable, but the humidity was constant.
We spent 2 nights at Caoitan Suizo and it was great! The location is perfect... close enough to town to take about a 10 minute stroll on the beach to get there but far enough that you are still somewhat removed from the craziness. And with the many fruit trees on the property as well as the specially constructed monkey bridge, there were monkeys around throughout the day, especially in the morning and around sunset. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the breakfast buffet style was delicious.

Beautiful hotel on Tamarindo Beach

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing.
We spent 4 wonderful nights at Capitan Suizo. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and only steps from the large pool and beach.

Great hotel and staff right on the beach!

Posted May 22, 2014
Pros: On the beach, friendly staff, animal visitors, great food
My girlfriend and I stayed at Tamarindo beach at this great hotel beginning of May for 4 days and we absolutely loved it. It was right on the beach in a great location... more quiet and further away from the "main strip" of beach goers. The staff was very friendly and we were awe struck by all the native animals we encountered. The exotic birds, squirrels, iguanas, lizards, raccoon, and especially the Howler Monkeys which visited daily! Also, one of the hotel cats paid a visit to our room, very friendly! After spending 4 days near Arenal Volcano doing more adventurous stuff, we were glad to come here and just relax. We actually rented an SUV for our entire vacation and it was a fun experience (no issues). Every evening we would take the 5 minute drive into town to walk around and eat out, except the last night we had a nice dinner at the hotel. The food is actually very good! By the way, the hotel is more tailored to couples and I would advise you stick around to watch a beautiful sunset over the beach if the sky is mostly clear... its memorable. Highly recommend staying here, good experience... would definitely come back!
