Beautiful hotel

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: The location is perfect, the hotel is beautiful.
Cons: Breakfast. More options, more fruits. People that come to a tropical country want to try different things. They also want options.
Location: Walk to the main strip, to the beach, restaurants and all the cute little shops! It's a great location.
This hotel is beautiful. Its a little jungle in there and the pool is gorgeous. There's a really nice tiki bar that plays live music on Thursdays which is when my family and I arrived. It is the perfect location, very close to the main strip and beach! You can walk everywhere from here and also have a little privacy if needed. The only thing I would recommend to improve is to offer more options during breakfast. The first day I had gallo pinto (traditional Costa Rican food) and eggs, which I dont eat, with some fruit. The second day only eggs so I had toast and the fruits were the same. There are so many yummy fruits in Costa Rica ! Anyway other then that the place is wonderful and I would definitely be staying here again when I go to Tamarindo!

Amazing honeymoon!

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Steve the bartender, pool and the location
Cons: mini fridges in the room
Location: everything is a close walk no more than 5-10 min. Every bar/restaurant and tours can be booked from hotel
Hotel Pasatiempo was our main base as we traveled thru Costa Rica and one of the best places we stayed in CR on a 3-4 star budget. The bungalows are private, clean and comfortable. The pool is always sparking and the food is great at the restaurant. Steve the weekend bartender is a gem! Full of all kinds of info to help you. Location is great just a few min walk to the beach and main part of town. Great place for a honeymoon or R and R. Draw back is that restaurant/bar closes fairly early( unless there is a music night- those are fun!) and there are no fridges in the room. definitely would stay again!! More of an adult vibe and I really loved that. That is why we did not stay all inclusive.

Pros: Everything,it's not five star but it's not expensive.Randy was so friendly.wifi worked all the time, hot water showers.
Cons: Maybe a little fridge, but the bar is right there ,you can buy drinks.
Location: Only a couple of minutes walk into town, restaurants on the way,,supermarket down the street
Had a great stay only booked for one night but stayed on, Randy is so lovely ,the breakfast was great, the pool is right out side your door, quiet ,but we did go off season .the rooms clean and tidy, heaps hot water,,would recommend to anyone.

Expedia helped us get this hotel.

Posted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: Very clean
Cons: The staff could be a little nicer.
Location: Everything.
We booked a different hotel through Expedia. It was overbooked. When speaking with Expedia they booked us here. We couldn't of been happier. We had a great time. Walking distance to town. The hotel is extremely clean and very friendly. Highly recommend.

Overall good experience, would stay here again.

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Staff was friendly. Room was simple with slightly dated furnishings, but they were situated around a nice little pool, bar and breakfast area.
Cons: A fridge in the room would be nice for longer stays. Was a little small for two adults and two children, and better ventilation to help with humidity
Location: Close to shopping, beach, and surfing. Can also do many other tours and sight seeing such as zip-lining and turtle watching.
We arrived after 8pm and the reception was closed, but we were given the key to our room by the security guard. Room was clean but a little humid until we ran the air conditioner. It had a queen bed and two singles which was perfect for our family of two adults and two children. A little crowded even with no desk or fridge, just a couple night stands, but we spent most of our time outdoors anyway so overall the room was satisfactory. Bathroom was clean with a big standup shower that had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Hotel was generally clean with a nice little bar that had live music some nights. Staff was friendly, and the pool and breakfast areas were cozy. Breakfast was included, but consisted of whatever the cook prepared that day, generally fresh pineapple and papaya (which were very tasty!) as well as rice and beans or eggs and toast etc. Meal was different every day, and we did enjoy them all, it just would have been nice to be able to choose from a selection of options. Within walking distance of many shops and restaurants, the beach, and surfing. Overall good experience at this hotel, simple, but cozy, would stay at this hotel again.

I wouldn't stay there again

The towels and bed sheets were too old. The food was tasteless and overpriced. I got sick and told the staff and they didn't even ask what happened or how was I doing - total lack of concern. I don't recommend this place.
Comment from Hotel Management

Good morning "M", I am really sorry if you did not like Pasatiempo, the staff always try really hard to please everyone. Regarding the price of our restaurant I believe that we are not speaking about the same place! Monkey La-La, with his menu on the webpage of Pasatiempo, is a snack bar with fish and chips for $10, salads for $9, wings for $6, beers for $3....Well, we never had a comment about the prices before. What I am thinking is that you are furious because you were waiting for more concern from the staff about your sickness, well, we have right now around 60 people in the hotel and are only 10 people working, I apologize if we didn't give you enough time but I don't think that your comments are justified.

Tropical Oasis within walking distance of beach

Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: The staff is always willing to help out with whatever your needs or wants are.
Location: The beach is only about a 400 meter walk in 2 different directions. All shops and restaurants are in easy walking distance.
This little diamond in the rough is definitely worth your visit. The rooms and grounds in this establishment are really looked after and cared for jointly by the WHOLE staff. We were there for 13 nights and we noticed one underlying theme over and over. If there is a job to do just do it and do it well. Male or female, they all can cook, clean, rake, water, sweep, clean up, fix, etc. They have a work ethic rarely seen these days in being able to work together for a common good of the establishment and be proud of what you do. Way to go Hotel Pasatiempo Staff!!! I bet you thought nobody noticed. Oh, and for the few with bad comments about this place get real. You probably should have booked your Hilton Hotel in your city, ordered only room service, paid thousands, don't go anywhere or do anything and then drive home through rush hour traffic. Happy now? An ant might walk across the floor in your room in Costa Rica after all it is a TROPICAL COUNTRY!!!!
