A great location!Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: nearly everything - quality of room, location in town, staff, breakfast, beachfront
Cons: quality of soaps/shampoos provided!
Location: Drove from here to Monteverde (very difficult road) and Samara (take the paved route!) - easy to get around CR in our rental.
We just spent 5 days at the Tamarindo Diria and it was worth every penny. Some things to just share with you that might be helpful in your trip to CR. -Spring for the beachfront rooms here - it's worth the extra $20 a day or so. There's two parts to the hotel, 1/2 is across the main street; it is quiet and has a lovely private pool, but your there for the beach views, which are gorgeous. -The breakfast is full and filling - great selections, egg station, waffle station, lots of options that will please adults and kids alike; the fruit was incredibly fresh. -Staff is unbelievably kind and pleasant, but I wish they did more to dissuade the beach hawkers from constantly trying to sell to you, especially over the dividing wall from from the public beach and the hotel grounds. -Bring your own soap/shampoo - the only negative on the entire 5 days was the quality of the product they provide. -WiFi isn't great - walk 5 min down the beach to Eat at Joe's - they have the strongest WiFi in Tamarindo by my account :)

Loved the tropical atmospherePosted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: I loved the pool areas. The lagoon pool had great surroundings of palm trees etc. The adult pool was tranquil.
Cons: The service during breakfast could have been a little better. The one time I ate a late breakfast, they had cleared a lot away before the ending time.
Location: Location is great for dining and shopping.
I very much enjoyed the stay at this hotel. Loved my ocean view and terrace. Loved being near the beach and town. Loved the ambiance of the hotel with the flavor of the culture. Not too fancy and not too plain. It was just right

Average hotel, nice beach townPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Pool, accessibility to beach and restaurants within walking distance.
Cons: Irons and ironing boards in the room Provide chairs and umbrellas by the beach or have a sign explaining the policy.
Location: Isolated location. Boat tours, monkey park/ hospital was worth it - they have about 20 animals found in South America and they were pretty active
The hotel is nice and clean, but not luxurious. There is a nice pool across the street and the beach is nice. The breakfast buffet was great and offered many choices in a town with expensive food. All the restaurants are walkable and have great, but expensive food. Tamarindo is isolated and all tours are 1-4 hours away with unreliable transportation. Beware of the "taxis" many of them are not licensed & police wait for them so they may get you some place & not be able to get you back. Tamarindo would be a nice place to end a vacation after you've seen Costa Rica and just want to relax by the pool/ beach and walk to eat.

Great hotel center of townPosted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Had a great stay, the hotel was close to all the restaurants, the beaches were clean rooms were nice and the staff went out of their way to assist.
Cons: An air vent in the bathrooms would help keep rooms cooler.
Location: Hotel was close to all shopping and I would recommend using Neptune's for all of your surf needs the staff was friendly
We loved Tamarindo. We couldn't have chosen a better hotel to stay in .

Hotel staff RUDE!Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: location and view
We stayed 4 nights, the front desk person who checked us in was plain rude, they messed up our reservation and basically told us too bad! The bartender did not even acknowledge us at all, after 5 full minutes I said something, he continued to ring up his checks and called someone else over to make our drink. We had exactly one drink, and never went back to the bar... The only person during our entire stay that was nice was the bellhop and the tour guy. The pool closes at 8PM and they are adamant about you getting out. the room.... the bathroom sink did not drain, there were stains on the wall, could not tell what they were as the lighting was very dim, the shower to turn it on you had to mess with it no rhyme or reason to it. the worst was the people, for the "nicest" place to stay in town it was NOT worth the money. The spa massages were horrible and twice the money, go next door those ladies are awesome and half the price. the food was so so...I asked for a blow dryer for 2 days before they sent one, we asked for an ice bucket 4 times and they NEVER brought it

Great hotel on the beach in the heart of tamarindoPosted Jul 4, 2014
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Diria. The hotel was situated on the ocean with beautiful views. There were plenty of things to do at the hotel and in the surrounding area. The activities desk staff was very knowledgable and helped us book several excursions including: white water rafting, snorkeling, and zip lining. We also booked massages while we were there, which were relaxing and inexpensive. We would definitely stay at the Diria in the future and would recommend it to anyone interested in vacationing in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

Great timePosted Jul 3, 2014
We had a great time! People who work at the hotel are excellent!!!!!! Rooms are very nice, the only 2 bad things are that they don't have elevator and the parking place is very small... But the rest is great! When I made the check out, they had all the food and beverages we consumed, the total they had did not match with my bills I singed, when I got home I checked and they charged me a bill that was not ours. The weird thing is that they don't put the totals of each bill, they put it separate, beverages one by one and food... I called and they fixed the mistake. They should put the whole bill together, so we can check better.

The Dirty MartinoPosted Jul 1, 2014
Amazing hotel! Take the hotel's tours with Martino (just ask for him) he is the best tour guide! Stayed 5 nights here, everything you need is within walking distance and there is a tour desk for cheap adventures! A/C worked great, awesome pools for both adults and kids. Right on the beach, awesome bar, friendly staff, amazing daily breakfast (free). Wish I lived here! - Joe (Chicago)
