"Great family lodgings"
The Oaks Tamarindo is a wonderful place to anchor your stay in Costa Rica. The units are beautifully done, with all the amenities you might expect from a upscale property in the US. Three pools, a very helpful staff, and plenty of monkeys right outside your door for daily wake-up calls. Clean, safe, gorgeous, and centrally located for daily excursions. Excellent!

"Cabins with Ambiance"
We loved the cabins that had rocking chairs on the porches. The rooms had large bathrooms with lots of shelf space and large showerheads. The beds were firm but not uncomfortable. The rooms came with desks, but no wifi. The wifi was located only in the lobby area. The breakfast was unsubstantial, as it was only fruit and toast. You had to pay extra for an omelette, which cost $5. There was a freezer filled with drinks, which you could take on the honour system and sign it on a sheet at the lobby. There was also a fridge in each room. We liked the pool as it was relaxing and clean. The location was far out of town, and we had to pay $20 each way both into and out of the town of Tamarindo in order to get something to eat. There was no food on the premises aside from the breakfast I have just mentioned. The jungle sounds were great around our cabin and really livened things up, especially when we had something thump onto our roof in the middle of the night. The birds were really loud and sounded like car alarms or something like it. There were horses down below our cabin also because a ranch was there. The dirt road leading to the hotel was really dusty and unpleasant. Apparently this is a government road which is slowly being paved, but may be years in the making. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel for the ambiance.

"NIce "condo" by the beach!!"
We stayed there March 6 - 10th. We were very please with the 3 beds and 2 full bathrooms. The full kitchen was great! it appeared we had the entire hotel to ourselves for the first 2 days. It has a back patio too which is great for hanging out wet towels and wet swimsuits to dry. it's only 2 blocks from the beach and only 2 blocks from the grocery store. We would highly recommend Tamarindo Yam!!! Very nice staff, locked from entry way and we felt safe at all times.

"Relax and enjoy nature"
This hotel has excellent access to the beach and shade and walking paths, right outside the hotel. Very beautiful in a natural setting with plenty of lizards and iguanas (outdoors only) to enjoy and watch as they scurry around. It is a place to swim in the clean, scenic pool, read a book in the sun or shade, swim/snorkel/sail in the warm ocean. You need a car to go to other places if you don't wish to stay only at the hotel. To find tours or do water sports - you need to make contact elsewhere; there is nothing here. Restaurant food is inexpensive and delicious! Clean, friendly place. I would go again.

"Great hotel for pretty much anyone"
My stay was wonderful. If you are looking for an isolated tropical paradise, this is it. The bar/ restaurant/ pool overlook the ocean from atop a cliff and are direct west facing, so the sunset is brilliant every night. The food was excellent, staff friendly, place felt safe. The rooms provide a decent place to sleep at night and clean up in the morning. If you are looking for a five star hotel with crazy pampering and $20 hamburgers this isn't it, but that type of service would not fit a setting like this. You come here to get away from the crowds, to experience the quietness, to feel nature. I honestly liked this better than high end hotels I have stayed at. The owner was present the entire time and took me on a little tour of the area, let me borrow a kayak to go out in the ocean and hung out with the guests. You aren't going to find THAT at the Four Seasons! I can definitely see myself coming back to this hotel, either by myself or with my family.

"Best View in Samara"
With its unique architecture and location, the Mirador is a very special place in Costa Rica. The appartments and rooms are very spacious. Each has a large private veranda overlooking Samara and the ocean. No american style luxury here: think of this as an authentic tica "boutique hotel" from which to take in the breeze and the incredible view. There is a nice pool and the beach is a short walk away through a shaded footpath. You can always count on the staff to provide you with friendly service. The best overall place in Samara.
