Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel only 2 blocks from the Parroquia and Jardin. The room was lovely-mine had a terrace overlooking the pool and gardens. And most importantly, the staff was exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Great location BUT impossible to sleep.
The location was great, around the corner from the church. And lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. The room though was very uncomfortable. The AC unit was broken and looked like it had not been working for a while. So we were forced to open the windows which are on the street. The noise all night was deafening from the cars, trucks, people, etc. And we were concerned about leaving them open with access from the street. I even tried ear plugs which did not work. We got very little sleep.

Wouldn't recommend
Could be really lovely but the hotel staff and attention to detail is very bad. The place is dirty and the beds and pillows are very hard - we had the worst sleep. The bathroom had mould. Also the hotel is quite loud so don't expect any silent relaxation. The only nice plus is that it's within walking distance to everything central. I wouldn't reccommmed it to anyone.

Great city, great Hotel, great location.
Very picturesque hotel, with awesome service. Pretty much in the Center of the town - do NOT rent a car, everything is walking distance. City is awesome, food is great (fair prices), roof bars are awesome, and safe. Take tours if you want to go anywhere else.

We stayed in one of the larger suites on the first floor. It was spacious and had its own patio area. The hotel is perfectly located and convenient to the plaza, stores and restaurants.

One night stay in San Miguel
This was the 4th hotel we stayed during a week trip to Guanajuato. Lovely hotel! The room was spacious and it overlooked the street. It was loud during the evening -- cars zooming through and church bells going off every so often. It's really close to the main garden in San Miguel. My daughter went crazy over the pool -- even it being mid November the water was a really nice temperature. We would definitely stay here again if we visit San Miguel.

Really central hotel. Rooms are nice and clean. Maid service is great. Get a room with a terrace. My only negative is that they need to put a dresser/table in the room. There is no place to put things ontop of. There are drawers in the closet but thats in the closet. Other than that it is a great hotel.

Ok if you like that kind of thing
Don't expect to stay connected to the Internet at this hotel. The connection will drop 30 seconds after you make it on the site HB_COQUETA. On the other hand you can connect to the Internet back home. Aren't you going to San Miguel de Allende, (SMA), to connect with the town and people there? Not that the lack of Internet means you will enjoy peace and tranquility. There is a steady stream of vehicles outside your window on Cuadrantes throughout most of the day, not to mention the clanging of the church bells at the Iglesia right next door in the evening. But the traffic and church bells can be heard all over zona central of SMA. Bring ear plugs though. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to sleep. The infrastructure of the hotel is a little rickety. The second day I was there, the fregadero, (sink), sprung a leak and flooded half the bathroom floor before I noticed it. But that gave me the opportunity to learn a new Spanish word, fuga. And the staff fixed it within a few hours. Oh and don't leave anything lying around that might be confused with trash. I carry my vitamin and supplement containers in plastic zip lock bags so that if they come open while in transit, the contents won't spill all over my luggage. Around the third day the maid threw them in the basura. The staff promised they would get me some replacements, as I did not know where to find such in SMA, but after a day, they had not done so, and I gave up asking.

We are very sorry for the inconveniences you had during your stay. We are constantly working on the mold issues in our rooms, as San Miguel´s temperature is of no help in this matter. In regards to the internet, we have a large antena, routers and have been working on this for a very long time. Unfortunately San Miguel´s buildings have this same issue because the walls are very thick and we have worked with many internet providers but we can´t seem to have solve the problem. We will continue working on a couple of solutions until we find the best alternative. We are glad that our staff helped you with the water leak and we are very sorry that the maid tossed your vitamins. San Miguel´s centro is very loud as any other downtown city, we have a sister hotel, located 13 kms away from the center. It´s very peaceful and surrounded with trees and mountain views. We hope to see you back soon at any of our 2 propperties and we will ensure that you have a very pleasant stay!

Superb service and professionalism. My only suggestion is to improve the wi-fi access (could be spotty at times). Ideal location with a beautiful garden and pool.

Thank you for your comments! They help us continue working in improving our services and training our staff to provide our guests with the best experience in San Miguel. Unfortunately the internet is a big issue throughout the city, we have an anthena, several routers and worked with many internet providers but the building walls are very thick so we haven´t found the right solution for the signal inside the rooms. We hope to see you soon in San Miguel again!

When we arrived to check-in we were given any room that we did not reserve. We made a reservation for two doubles and we received one queen and a cot. We filed a complaint with the staff and after two hours of waiting we were placed in a different hotel down the street

Beautiful. Great wonderful people make this gorgeous boutique hotel feel like you are the only ones there. Our own garden, pool, bar etc and the service was wonderful. Close to everything but private and relaxing. And we loved the church bells. Will stay there whenever available. The staff was friendly and sofisticated. For example Javier, not only very handsome and helpful, is also a law student. Excellent.

Cozy little hotel, but bring your own pillow - the ones in the room were very firm. They may have been able to switch them, but we did not ask. The street noise can be loud, but the window on the street side of our room (Arbol) was very soundproof. It is a spacious room with high ceilings, and a large (firm) king bed. There is no air-conditioning, but we had a large fan in our room (which was a bit noisy). Light sleepers might want ear plugs, but overall we really liked this hotel.

Loud, bright and unable to sleep.
Our room was on a very busy street, right beside 2 street lights. Ear plugs were left on the pillow which helped somewhat with the noise. The only window opened on to the street. Even with the curtains closed, it was so bright I could almost read in the room! There was no fan or air conditioning. The only way we could have gotten any air to cool the room would have been to sleep with the door open. We had a miserable night without a wink of sleep.

Great Place: Only needs a few finishing touches
We loved this place. It's beautiful and the staff was always helpful. The rooms are beautiful. The pool and garden are heavenly. They need to work on the little things: no soap or glasses in the rooms. Reminding guests ahead of time about a garden party. Just little things like that. I would definitely stay there again!

Great hotel -- street noise unbearable
Everything you would expect a Mexican boutique hotel to be -- the only problem was the street noise every night. If you room faces the street, the construction transmits the 3:00 am street noise (after the bars close) into the rooms. The hotel provides ear plugs i.e. they know that they have a problem.

Close to center of town.
This hotel was close to everything you would need for a short stay. Taxis are available for trips to larger stores. If you want an early morning alarm, the church bells ring every morning at 6:30. The cleaning staff was great! She was very friendly and helpful. The garden was beautiful. We didn't have the American plan, so we can't comment on the breakfast. We would get a room with a small couch next time.

Can't wait to come back and stay here again
This place was amazing. You cannot beat the location. It was literally right behind the Parroquia, a short walk around the block and you're in the Jardin (the town's center). You are also a short walk from many great places to eat including a Starbucks. The hotel's garden is a wonderful place to relax after a day walking about town. At night, you get a beautiful view of the church tower. The staff was amazing. Great food recommendations and extremely accommodating. The architecture and layout brings you back s few centuries with all the 21st century luxury. If you want to plan a group trip this is the place. There are only 14 rooms but the garden has a BBQ and a bar. A word of caution if you have never stayed in small very traditional Mexican towns. (I have and am used to this so I loved the experience.) The front door is literally one step from the street so you will hear cars driving past from inside your room especially those adjacent to the street. To me this is just part of the experience of SMA. You are in a town full of centuries old churches with traditional bell towers. You WILL hear church bells and they ring all night. Again, part of the experience IMHO.

Great centrally located hotel
We arrived to the hotel on a Monday afternoon. They had a little difficulty finding our reservation but was quickly taken care of. They gave us our room key within a matter of 15 minutes. By the time we got in our room, it had started raining heavy. We stepped out for a few minutes to get some dinner and by the time I returned to the room I noticed water running down the wall. I immediately went to inform the staff and we were quickly moved into a different room with a beautiful view of the Cathedral. Julio, Claudia, and Ana made our stay comfortable during our 4 day stay at Coqueta Boutique in San Miguel de Allende. Anytime we asked for pool towels, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, more drinks for our refrigerator, they were there to assist us. Julio also helped in making our reservations to go horseback riding. Highly recommend to anyone who goes to San Miguel de Allende to experience this. The only downside about being so close to the Cathedral is you can hear the church bells ring throughout the night. But if you ask, the staff will provide ear plugs for their guest.

Excellent Location
We stayed for a week in late February. The hotel is just a block away from the main square and the gorgeous church. Close to restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and the main park. The property is beautiful and well kept. The central courtyard and pool are nice. Our room was quite large and had some really nice touches like a vaulted brick ceiling, and very large bathtub. It was nice and clean. Some reviewers complained about the bells, which are quite loud and frequent. However, most hotels within 3 or 4 blocks of the church would have the same issue. The window in our room was on a busy street (worse on weekends). The street is fairly steep, so vehicles are extra noisy when climbing the slope. I suggest you ask for a room that is not on street side. We had the large portable fan running all night. This really helped mask the street and bell noise.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Coqueta Hotel. There is plenty of staff and they go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. This hotel has a lovely courtyard that is a very pleasant place to relax and enjoy some tranquility in the middle of a busy area. You can even order a margarita to sip while sitting by the pool. The hotel is in a perfect location for seeing everything in San Miguel but because you are in the center of town it is noisy and you hear the bells of the churches constantly.

The best part of this hotel is its location: close to main square or plaza and it's cathedral. Main shopping and restaurants are within walking distance, which is great on this hilly town. The only downside was the pool's cold water and car parking, took some time to get the car back or being taken to be parked.

Lovely hotel for a romantic getaway
We decided to book this little hotel for our babymoon getaway with my husband. When booking my only doubt was the church bell noise that was mentioned in some reviews, but have to say I cannot understand where these comments come from now.... I'm extremely sensitive sleeper and there was no noise that bothered me. On the contrary, we had the most wonderful, romantic and relaxed stay, loved our room (had the standard one in the 2nd floor), the beautiful garden and pool (a must on a hot day in SMA!). Hotel staff was super friendly and extremely flexible and we felt really welcome. Oh, and the location could not be better! Would love to come back soon!

Dream-like
Blink and you might think you're in Europe or in a fairy tale. This idyllic town features the best dining, incredible local art, and a very high proportion of tourists from USA and Europe. The hotel is boutique - with all the pluses and none of the minuses. Ask for the "chappel suite" and you'll have a breathtaking view of the cathedral and a beautiful private balcony to enjoy a nice bottle of wine.
