“Looks nice on the outside; not so nice on the inside”

I stayed in a room with two beds on the 22nd floor for three nights. The room was cleaned well enough and the beds were comfortable enough. It had everything I needed in it except an iron and ironing board. The bell boys were a bit rough with our luggage and the staff at the reception were friendly but slow. I dealt with about 5 of them, and 2 spoke English well enough that I felt I didn't have to switch to speaking Cantonese. I had to book two consecutive nights separately - this was not the hotel's fault. When they called me in my room to inform me that the second night, booked through Expedia, would be more expensive, they didn't tell me that I'd have to bring down my room key to 'refresh' it for it to work on the second night. (Overall, the prices were still very reasonable.) The hotel is conveniently located near 1) a bus service that will take you to Hong Kong and other places and 2) banks (that will not exchange Chinese currency for Hong Kong dollars unless you're a citizen of China). If you don't have a laptop with a network/Ethernet card, you'll have to use the hotel's "Business Centre" to use the Internet (or whatever censored version of the Internet exists in China). At the time, it was much more expensive than the other hotels I stayed in in China.
