Lovely place, nice staff, but noisy

Posted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Very friendly staff, lovely garden, comfortable bed, spacious room.
Cons: I emailed the hotel about breakfast options (I'm vegan). They never replied. The breakfast we got was tiny and we both left hungry. Terrible coffee.
Location: It's a nice area and the Zona Viva is very close.
I have a B&B at Lake Atitlan and have stayed in many Guatemala City hotels. I'm always looking for new places to recommend to my guests. We had come in to the city early to drop off guests at the airport. We called the Dai Nonni at 10am to ask whether we could check in early. They were very accommodating, and told us our room would be ready in an hour. We found the hotel with no problem (thank you Waze!) When we arrived, the room wasn't quite ready. We sat in the lovely garden where the staff brought us tea and coffee while we waited. We were delighted with the room: a large, very clean space with a king bed and kitchenette. There's no view, and this room faces the front of the house looking out at the parking area. We took a long nap, then set out for the afternoon. It's an easy walk to the Zona Viva, but crossing some of the busy streets can be a challenge. There are many restaurants and lots of shopping in the area. We returned with our own food and enjoyed the hotel's garden dining area. I've stayed in several places around the airport and thought I knew what to expect with airport noise. But on this side of the airport, the noise is different. At 2am, it sounded like a plane was landing right on top of us. I didn't even know planes landed at that hour. I was awakened at lease three times by very loud planes. So, while the location has a lot going for it and the hotel itself is charming (as others said, it's really a B&B), the airport noise is a deal breaker.

“Excellent Central American Bed & Breakfast”

Posted Apr 1, 2015
It says hotel in the name, but Dai Nonni is really a medium sized bed and breakfast. The facility is a well-kept family home that has been renovated. The atmosphere and furnishings are quaint and comfortable. But it is the staff's doing any and everything possible to make your stay as perfect as possible that makes this hotel a place to stay when in the central area of Guatemala City. The location is near the embassy and diplomatic sector. This is also the most secure zone of the city with the least street crime and problems. There are numerous very good restaurants within walking distance. The airport is about a mile away. (That is one of the only drawbacks to the location; the few pre-dawn flights that there are could be a problem for the light-sleeper.) There is no A/C, but you really should not it in Guatemala City, though you can request a floor fan. Breakfast offerings are Continental, Typical, and American style. My wife and I stayed in two different rooms, this was due to the reservation bookings, and much preferred the garden room that was outside of the main building. The mattresses and pillows were typical Central American fare, the former was harder than we like and the latter was pretty flat; all serviceable but not much more than that. The fast wifi is available throughout the facility and garden. Again, it is the great service and the very good price and the convenient location that will be bringing us back to this hotel.

I loved my stay!

This is by far one of the nicest, cleanest hotels I've been too. I loved waking up to a warm breakfast; delicious! The staff specially Teresita was super helpful and professional. Every time I visit Guatemala; I'm definitely coming back.

perfect for transiting to the airport

Staff was welcoming offering drinks when we arrived and a breakfast to take with us to the early flight. As the phone was not working we did not get our wake up call for 3 AM. As the area near the airport is not a good place to wander this hotel is great for the night before a flight.

Great place for an airport overnight stay

Posted Jan 30, 2015
Pros: It's close location 5 minutes from the airport, it's nice decor and comfortable room. See above for more!
Cons: everything great!
Location: don't know what is nearby to do
I arrived late at night so booked a room at this hotel close to the airport. I was very happy I chose this one for it was a great value for the price compared to the more expensive hotels near the airport. For a $10 charge they sent a driver and van for me to the airport, which was waiting with a sign with my name when I arrived. The hotel clerk was exceptionally gracious and brought me a glass of apple juice which was very welcome after my day of traveling. The room was spacious, very tastefully decorated in a simple classy way, and very clean and comfortable. It was also quiet because the hotel is on a side street in what looked like a residential area. There was plenty of hot water for a great shower before I went to sleep. The breakfast was good and pleasant in the garden. My shuttle picked me up at 11am so I never left the hotel. It is perfect for an overnight stay and I will be back again.

Freundlich, sauber, ideale Location zum Flughafen

Posted Dec 15, 2014 on Hotels
Sehr freundlicher Empfang, hilfsbereites Personal.
