Nice hotelPosted Apr 7, 2014
Don't be fooled by the exterior. Once you enter through the front door, you'll be plesantly surprised. Very cozy and relaxing. Good restaurant with desent prices. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Just keep in mind there's small unmentioned maid service fee at checkout, its calculated in the local Q so its not bad.

Great hotel!Posted Apr 7, 2014
The hotel is located nearby everything at Antigua. The rooms are breathtaking, because of all the atmosphere created around it. Definitely would stay there again!

Quiet hotel, short walk to major attractions.Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Quiet charm, an oasis from the sightseeing
Cons: Slightly better lighting in the room.
Location: Easy walk to the centre, churches and ruins. Day trip to hike Pacaya was worth it, you need to be able to walk uphill. Atitlan overnight required.
The hotel is charming and the staff friendly. The room was a little dark for reading. We had a small patio with fountain. Would highly recommend.

Great historic cozy hotel with colonial décor.Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Decoration, service, location and dinner menu
Cons: With large functions they could have more wait staff in the restaurant. One breakfast was very much delayed with only one waiter to help 6 tables.
Location: Close to historic city centre with view of volancoes. Lots of walking tours and restaurants close by.
Excellent service, although wait staff a bit slow but all the more time to enjoy the historic surroundings and beautiful views of volcanoes! Hotel is in a historic building and each room is different and charming. We were upgraded to a suite that was very large. Bathrooms are modern. Service was superb in the excellent top quality restaurant as well as in the terrace bar that overlooks a volcano. Food and drink prices fine by US standards, although a bit pricey for Guatemala. Front desk helped with personalized tour arrangements as well. Be aware you won't be able to check in before 3 pm. We were there three days and all the staff knew us by name. Close to historic sites (a few blocks walking distance) but not too close so it was quiet at night. Some large functions at hotel meant the rest of us were unable to get restaurant reservations or delayed breakfast service. Will definitely go back. Food menu not "kid friendly" but excellent quality and varied with local and international dishes.

OutstandingPosted Dec 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
My husband and I had a wonderful time at el Convento Hotel. The staff was amazing, especially Edwin who took care of our every need. Our room was beautiful with a fireplace which was laid each night. The patio outside our room had a fountain and a tiny garden. Our king size sleigh bed was amazing as was our bathroom with skylit shower. I spent lots of time in the library looking at picture books about Antigua past and present learning more about its culture. The dinning room was beautiful reflecting the architecture of the old convent and the food was delicious wether it be taken there or in our room. In general we had a fabulous time and would definitely return.
