“Quiet comfortable hotel”
Hostal Las Marias was an excellent choice for our stay. It is about a 10 minute walk from the center of town, which made it a little less convenient than other hotels we passed, but it was a much quieter stay. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was very good, and it was the most reliable hot water we had in Guatemala!
The only problem we experienced is that we arrived after 6 pm and found it is in a gated community. We did not know how to get in the gate in order to get to the hotel. Fortunately, a resident came by and let us in. Between 7 am and 6 pm there is a guard to let you in. After that, you need a key. If you arrive late, make sure you have made arrangements to get into the gate.
