“Central American Eden”

My husband and I arrived at the hotel after spending almost seven hours in our car and we were just blown away. The staff was exceptionally courteous and our room was magnificent. We had booked our room through expedia, which seemed to cause a problem because they couldn't find our reservation right away, but they called someone in who was more famiiar with the system and it was fixed in about ten minutes. The hotel has all the amenities one could want and is located on the edge of Antigua, so you can park there and forget about your car while you relax. The grounds were well-tended and the museum was fun to explore. The restaurant had delicious food; we really enjoyed our dinner more than we could have hoped. We are already planning to take our parents there in the coming months!!!

“Casa Santo Domingo”

This hotel was constructed on the ruins of an old convent and was restored in a very loving and beautiful way. The landscaping is exceptional. It is reminiscent of a Spanish parador with a sense of history very unlike a typical hotel. The art collection is worth a visit by itself. The staff is dedicated to a high level of service. The rooms are large and comfortable. All in all an excellent base to explore Antigua and surrounding areas.

I've been to many hotels throughout Central America and this is the loveliest and most historic colonial styled hotels I've ever visited. It's not only a hotel, but an idea setting for a romantic wedding or an excellent escape for a long weekend.

Stunning hotel in the most beautiful of cities. Lots of great touches - open fire in bedroom, very good coffee boat, complimentary afternoon tea, architecture everywhere, amazing food, extremely kind and couteous staff...

“Perfection from the 16th Century to the 21st.”

We felt as if we had ridden in with the Dominican friars in the 16th Century with 21st Century services and amenities. We have never been as entranced -- the various museums, the integration of modern art into the displays of 17th Century artifacts, the gardens, the exposed ruins . . . the gourmet food, the perfect service. I don't know how to stop raving about this magic experience, made all the better by visiting at Christmas.

We live in Guatemala City and we love to spend time in Antigua. Casa Santa Domingo is our favorite hotel in Antigua. The atmospere is very Colonial. We always book the "standard de luxe" room because of the location.
