“Boutique Hotel at Affordable Prices”
Hotel del Lo Bernal, also known as La Abadia, is a lovely gem of a place. Tastefully designed with rustic touches and beamed celings. Rooms are spotless and beautifully furnished with antiques and the beds are deliciously dressed in spotless white linens. Some of the rooms have sky views while some have couryard views. It feels like staying in a private little mansion. The Lo del Bernal is only two blocks from the center of action. Brenda the manager is fantastic and super helpful!! All the women that work there are super nice and helpful. There are two large rooms that feel like separate cottages being that they are on the other side of the garden and the main house. You can not go wrong here. Good for solo travelers as well.
“Excellent Hotel”
We found the hotel to be very comfortable and quiet. They were very accomodating and let us check in early. The only problem we found was that they always kept the front door locked which meant sometimes we had to wait quite awhile for them to open the door for us, The employees were very nice and efficient. They had a great continental breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to everyone
“At Home”
This hotel is a hidden gem. It is beautiful, very helpful and extremely pleasant staff. The hotel was way beyond what I expected it to be. Very beautiful decorated, charming hotel. Extremely clean, and really felt like i was home with the whole atmosphere. The rooms are very private, so i really didn't feel like i was sharing the hotel with anyone, when in reality they were almost full!!
“Next time I go to Antigua I stay there again”
The best place to stay in Antigua for the price.
“You can't judge a book by it's cover and this is a good read!”
Let me start by saying that I'm not the most experienced world traveler, so maybe I'm just not used to how things work outside the US. Most of my international travel has been in Southeast Asia and Brazil, this was my first trip to Guatemala. The hotel looked identical to everything else in Antigua from the outside, when I arrived. It was dark, unlit on the outside, and the streets were deserted. But once I got inside, all was better. The desk staff spoke English, the room was very nicely laid out and extremely clean. The continental breakfasts were good, the fruit and juice were fresh. The only quirk was that there was no latch on the front door. In order to enter the hotel (day or night) you had to knock and wait for the desk staff to open the door. Overall this was a nice little hotel and I'd certainly consider it for another stay.
“Very nice stay!”
Everything was great, except that we could hear a phone ring constantly. We were staying in the room over the reception.
“would go back in a heartbeat”
loved it. quaint, clean, comfortable, safe and a very helpful staff. not right in the heart of antigua but certainly walkable to everything.
“Quiet place in Antigua if you get the right room”
The hotel was very cute, charming and small. A bit off the path, however only 3 blocks away from the archway. The hotel was clean, however the rooms on the first floor were a bit too exposed for my taste. If you are staying on the first floor, standard rooms, ask for room 103 or 104. The breakfast was sufficient, for an extra $1 USD, they cooked eggs for us.
“Very good boutique hotel”
The hotel is clean, comfortable and totally recommended. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, although small, clean. Water pressure: excellent! The price is reasonable. The staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. The wifi works better in the small restaurant and the lobby.
“Comfortable Upstairs Room”
My husband and I stayed at the hotel in an upstairs room with high wooden ceilings, plush linens and a lovely view of the garden. The room had nice touches and the tiled bathroom had a sky light. The service at the hotel was great. Everyone was friendly and the location was easy walking distance from the plaza. The downstairs rooms were not as private or nice so I can only speak about the room that we stayed in.
