Hotel Real Plaza, AntiguaPosted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Beautiful gardens and wonderful hospitality.
Cons: Better lighting in rooms and ceiling fans for better air flow.
Location: It was near enough to central Antigua to walk anywhere, but far enough from main areas to be more peaceful.
This was a charming hotel 5 blocks south of the central park. The grounds and gardens were awesome. The pool was clean but very chilly since it was winter. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The staff was outstanding and fun. I did not speak much Spanish, but they were patient and helped me with basics and pointed out places in Antigua in response to my questions. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. We appreciated the good WiFi so we could Skype with our children in USA. We plan to stay there again when we return to Guatemala.

A delightful Colonial, rooms well appointed décor and garden courtyard. Affordable. Eight blocks from zocolo...it would be wise to employ a taxi in evening. Hosts helpful, but speak Spanish only.

Lovely site but no hot waterPosted Jun 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
The grounds are perfectly lovely & an excellent place for a conference. The rooms look charming & on our first visit there were acceptable. However, we booked a visit recently & did encounter several problems which made our continued stay there not possible. Due to volcano activity in the area a very fine black dust was on the floor making it necessary to wipe your feet prior to putting on your shoes. The other major problem was no hot water. When we spoke to the manager about it she came up to the room to check & advised us that it was hot according to their standards. We find this unacceptable & relocated to another hotel.
